Chapter 661 Apology
Preston's emotions gradually became agitated. His words made
Camille confused over what he meant.
But Preston was also reluctant to say more, and his voice was a little
hoarse as he said, "Sorry Cami, I didn't mean to get mad at you. I just
thought of something unforgettable.â
The more he said this, the more bewildered Camille became, and the
more she didn't understand what was going on between them.
What was he hiding?
Camille frowned and her expression was very stiff as she said, "I didn't
feel that way, and I didn't think that way. I'm sorry if there is any
misunderstanding.â
"No, Cami, I don't need you to apologize to me, and you don't need to
feel sorry for me, because you're not the one who should be sorry.â
His words mean a lot.
Camille's heart grew heavier with doubt, and her expression became
grave and troubled as she asked, "Who do you think is the person who
should apologize?"
Preston just smiled bitterly. He did not answer the question, just
nonchalantly said: "Your Grandma's matter will soon have results.
Although I did not say it, I have been investigating. I will get the
evidence to prove my innocence to you. I will regain your trust."
He didn't bother Camille any more with talking, just said he'd let her get
on with her own business, and then ended the call.
Preston's reaction was a little too predictable, and Camille's mind was
filled with questions, many of which were a foggy mess that made her
feel so tired.
She sat alone in the café until Ayan's call came, which retracted her
mind back and she went back to the ward.
Rex and the others had left, leaving Ayan alone in the ward.
He was lying in his hospital bed and watched Camille come in and
immediately beckoned, "Come over here for me."
Camille walked over and he took her hand in his and asked in a shallow
voice, "Where have you been? What took you so long to get up here?"
"I sat downstairs for a while and thought I'd leave some time for you
pals to chat.â
"Next time they are not allowed to come, I do not want to talk with
them." He said seriously, without coaxing at all. He lowered his eyes to
look at her beautiful fingers, and with a dumb voice, he said: "You feel
very boring to stay with me here? So you want to find a chance to get
rid of me?"
Camille felt a little speechless. She did not say anything. She didn't do
anything. He began to fantasize endlessly like a scriptwriter.
She swept him a cold glance and said without much emotion, "Well,
you're right. I have such an intention, so do you want to make it true for
me?"
Ayan looked at her and gave a light laugh, "What do you think?"
"I think it's definitely possible.â
"Hey, nice try! Don't even think about getting rid of me!"
After saying that, he clutched her hand more tightly.
Ayan refused to hire a caregiver, although he couldn't walk for now due
to the foot injury. As for Kian, his answer was, "Kian's salary is much
higher than a caregiver's. It's not cost-effective for Simpson Group and
me. He has to stay in the company to handle my business."
So naturally, the most suitable candidate was left with only one person,
and that was Camille.
And that was the ultimate meaning in his words.
He had decided so and meant it. Camille knew what was in his mind,
but because she was also concerned about his condition, she also had
to stay with him.
Camille spent the morning at the hospital, and after lunch, Camille
returned to Maple Leaves Mansion while Kian came to report to Ayan.
She didn't change her clothes last night, so he went back to Maple
Leaves Mansion to take a shower, and then went out to the nearest
supermarket to buy some wholesome ingredients to make soup for
Ayan.
Camille came out of the residence building and was just about to walk
to her car when she met Horace, who was also returning from outside.
The two looked at each other. Horace nodded in greeting. Camille also
nodded slightly with a smile on her face.
Horace asks, "Is Mr. Simpson all right?"
It was no secret that Ayan was involved in a car accident last night, and
the first time he saw the news online, he already had his secretary call
Kian to express his concern.
Camille: "Well, it's okay. It's not that serious.â
Horace face was cold without any obvious expression. He didn't
continue this topic, but very naturally shifted to the next issue, with his
voice nonchalant: âThe design drawing has come out. I originally
planned to ask you for some advice recently, but now it seems I have to
wait for another time."
Camille immediately said: "Mr. Burris is being too polite. It will just be
my personal ideas, which can't be equal to the so-called advice. If Mr.
Burris needs it, send it straight to the mailbox."
Horace's job had almost finished. Now all that needed to be done was
to check all the parts and then get started.
"Yes."
Horace answered.
Camille also gave a low hum and then was silent.
The two looked at each other and it followed in silence.
After a few seconds, Camille quietly took a deep breath and spoke in a
low voice: "Then I'll leave first, go shopping for something.â
Horace nodded in response.
Camille said goodbye again before pulling open the car door and
getting ready to go.
Horace then said, "Camille, I have a question for you.â
Camille looked at him with some surprise, "What is it?"
"Have you and Mr. Baxter known each other for a long time?"
Horace had always been very direct in his questions, without any
ambage.
Camille was just stunned. Her face did not look the least unusual as
she answered in a calm voice, "What did Mr. Burris want to say?"
Horace still had an impassive expression. He said, "Don't get me
wrong. I do not mean anything else. Just from these two times together,
I can see that you and Ms. Simpson and Mr. Baxter should have known
each other for a long time."
Camille did not speak, because Horace was so smarte would guess it
out with the smallest evidence, and Grace had also met Preston,
although they were not very familiar, so as longtarted to guess as
Horace s, he would put together everything and figure it out.
He also asked Camille directly if she and Ayan were separated, so it
was hard for Camille to deny Horace's question directly.
Her eyes sank slightly, and the warmth on her face turned into
indifference. She returned unhurriedly, "Since Mr. Burris is asking me
this, I guess you must already have an answer, right?"
Horace didn't deny it, and the two just stared at each other.
Camille asked, "Is there anything more Mr. Burris would like to say?"
Horace: "Did you think I would use this as a threat to get you or Mr.
Simpson to promise me something?"
Camille did not say anything, but she was more or less thinking of the
same thing.
Horace indifferent face showed a light smile, and he said: "It is also
very normal for you to think this way. After all, my identity and what I
have figured out are easily leading people to feel that there's something
behind it. But Camille, get rid of your suspicion of me. I came to Hance
City only to expand the business. I'm not interested in other people's
personal feud. Since I work on this project as a shareholder of
Armstrong Corp, I naturally do not want any mistakes, because this is
my first project in Armstrong Corp, I need this project to establish my
prestige. My purpose is simple. No any accident during the project.â
Horace's earnest remarks silenced Camille. This was the first time he
had said so much since he had known Horace.
Camille was at a loss for words.
Her expression also turned stiff, and her heart was even more
apprehensive.
Horace's concerns were actually quite normal. No mistake. After all,
everyone's interests and concerns were different, so she could not
force others to do as she wanted, but only remind herself not to do
something counterproductive.
After all, she knew best about Ayan and Preston's positions.
