In the bustling city, there was a luxurious villa with a large courtyard.
The owner of the villa was a wealthy businessman named Zhang
Cheng. He had made his fortune through various business ventures
and lived a lavish lifestyle.
However, despite his wealth and success, Zhang Cheng had one
weakness - he cared deeply about his reputation. He couldn't bear to
lose face in front of others and would go to great lengths to protect it.
One day, while attending an important business meeting with several
other businessmen, Zhang Cheng received some bad news. One of his
investments had failed miserably, resulting in a significant loss of
money.
Zhang Cheng was devastated by this news and immediately left the
meeting without saying anything. He rushed back to his villa and locked
himself in his room for days on end.
During this time, rumors began to spread throughout the city that Zhang
Cheng's business empire was crumbling. People started talking behind
his back and questioning whether he was truly as successful as he
claimed to be.
Zhang Cheng couldn't bear the shame of losing face in front of others.
He became increasingly paranoid and reclusive, refusing to leave his
villa or see anyone else.
As time passed by, Zhang Cheng's once-great reputation began to
crumble away completely. His businesses failed one after another until
he eventually lost everything he had worked so hard for.
In the end, all that remained were whispers about how one man's
obsession with protecting his own image led him down a path towards
ruin and despair - an unfortunate lesson for anyone who values their
reputation above all else.
Molly's words surprised and shocked Luke and Naomi.
Naomi couldn't believe it and said, "Are you lying? Are you trying to
deceive us?"
Molly replied, âIf you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do.â
Molly had a cold expression on her face with no glimmer in her eyes. It
was hard to tell if what she said was true or false.
Luke and Naomi looked at each other before Luke took a deep breath
and asked, "You're going to marry him?"
âI'm already pregnant with his child. What else can I do?" Molly replied.
"What about him? Does he want to marry you?" Luke asked flatly.
Molly didn't answer immediately. She repeated the question in her
mind. Did he want to marry her?
With pursed lips, Molly finally answered, "Of course!"
Luke let out a disappointed laugh. He said, "Great! This is my daughter
who I've cherished so much in my hands! You're cruel to me and your
mother for this man! You'd rather give up your family for him?"
Molly remained silent.
Luke continued speaking sternly,"Since you insist on being with
Preston, then don't regret it. If you choose Preston over us then we'll
cut all ties!"
After Luke spoke those words Molly also fell silent.
She looked at Luke incredulously as tears rolled down her cheeks while
Naomi cried silently beside them.
Their attitudes were firm; they had probably discussed this before Molly
returned home.
They wanted to force Molly into breaking things off completely with
Preston through this method.
The Walker family wasn't the top-tier elite but they were one of the old
aristocratic families of Flento City's elite circle; an old enterprise that
had been around for years now.
Whoever Molly would find as a husband later would have to be able
match their status accordingly too.
As for Preston Mr. and Mrs. Walker didn't think he was good enough for
their daughter because of his behavior which they did not approve of so
they refused outrightly too when approached by him or even by their
daughter about marriage proposals from him
After hearing what Luke said, Molly remained quiet until she whispered
softly,"You want to cut all ties with me?"
Luke persisted with a cold face, saying, "If that's how you feel, then so
be it. If you insist on being with Preston, then from now on we the
Walker family will no longer have a daughter like you. Do as you
please, but do you know what? You deceived us into sending you
abroad for further studies. This has made me and your mother lose
face!"
Luke raised his hand and slapped himself hard in the face. Despite
having been in the business world for many years, no one had ever
spoken to him like this before.
Faced with Luke's emotions, Molly was also at a loss for words
because Luke had never said such harsh words before. She began to
feel anxious and scared.
"Why don't you agree?" Molly asked. "Preston is someone that the
Walker family personally chose to adopt into our family. You were
satisfied with him at first; that's why he was adopted right? Why won't
you let us be together now? Why?"
"Molly," Luke replied sternly. âYour mother and I only adopted Preston
to support his education so that he could treat you well as if he were
your own brother or sister when taking over Walker Group and
everything related to the Walker family in the future! We never said
anything about letting him marry into our family! If he had any gratitude
whatsoever in his heart, he wouldn't have left us behind just like that
when going off to Hance City with Camille! We've really raised an
ungrateful person!"
Naomi was also very emotional about this situation - especially when
she thought about how Preston abandoned everything they taught him
at Walker Group after becoming successful there just so he could start
anew in Hance City alongside Camille - they couldn't bear it.
They felt like not only did they raise an ungrateful person but also
someone who would use their teachings against them if given half a
chance.
This kind of person didn't show any gratitude or consideration towards
them; how could they trust such a person? Naomi accused Preston of
all these things while Molly remained oblivious â she couldn't believe it
nor did she want to believe it: "No way," she said firmly "Preston can't
possibly be this kind of person; there's no way he'd abandon The
Walkers."
Luke didn't want to hear any more from Preston. He grabbed a glass of
water and smashes it on the floor. Then he calls the servant: "Get her
out of here. We don't have anyone like that in the Walker family. From
now on, when she comes home, she doesn't have to open the door.
Luke wasn't just talking. After giving instructions to the servant, he
immediately got up and went upstairs, taking Naomi with him.
The elderly couple made this decision out of necessity, as Molly
refused to turn back no matter what.
The servants were also in a difficult position. Although Luke's words
were decisive, Molly was still their daughter, so they couldn't really
drive her away. They began to persuade her: "Miss, you should talk to
Madam and Sir properly. They won't harm you. As parents, they only
want the best for their children. They are worried about you being so
determined to be with Mr. Chu!"
Molly remained silent and sat on the sofa for a long time. She didn't
stay long with the Walker family, and now Luke and Naomi refused to
talk to her properly. They were probably even angry just at the sight of
her. So she left the Walker's Villa and found a nearby hotel to
temporarily stay in.
Molly hasn't contacted Preston. She wants to wait for him to remember
her and reach out to her on his own, because she has already taken
the initiative too many times. However, Preston has always been very
indifferent towards her, which has made her doubt his sincerity towards
her more than once. But every time, she convinces herself otherwise.
This time, she is determined to hold out.
As soon as Molly left the Walker family and moved into a hotel,
someone immediately told Kian.
Kian also immediately reported the news to Ayan, saying, "It seems that
Molly and the Walker family haven't come to an agreement. I
specifically had someone inquire with their servants and found out that
Mr. and Mrs. Walker don't want Molly to be with Preston and are forcing
her to break up by cutting off ties."
Ayan nodded and said, "Then let's give Mr. and Mrs. Walker Preston's
pictures along with the others since Molly is unwilling to do anything.
Let Mr. and Mrs. Walker do it for her."
"Will Mr. and Mrs. Walker be able to accept the impact on their health?"
"No way, Molly is the only daughter of the Walker family. They still have
to work hard to wake up their love-struck daughter!"
Ayan's plan is understood by Kian, but he expresses some concern
and asks, "Mr. Simpson, what if Preston doesn't respond to our calls?"
"He doesn't know how to handle it. So many things have happened one
after another, if Preston is still indifferent, then he is not the same
Preston anymore. Although he can remain calm, being provoked
repeatedly will eventually push anyone to do something.â
Ayan is very confident, especially when it comes to people like Preston.
He definitely won't sit back and take this loss lying down.
Kian sent Luke photos of Preston and another woman in an
anonymous email that day. After hearing that Luke saw these photos,
he almost went straight to Hance City to kill Preston.
DE a oY
Luke had a big temper tantrum and immediately called Molly back to
the Walker family.
Luke threw the photos in front of Molly, pointed them in her nose and
asked, "Did you know he was seeing someone else? Are you gonna
stick with this guy after all this? Go and get rid of that baby at once,
you're not going to have it!"
Luke's words were decisive, and he immediately asked Naomi to take
Molly to the hospital.
