Chapter 823: Penetration
"Enough, I don't want to hear you say these things. Have you forgotten
about Rex so quickly? Aren't you afraid he'll find out what you're doing
now?"
"What should I be afraid of? We've already separated. Besides, isn't
this what you wanted? So why do you use him as an excuse to evade
my words?"
Sienna coldly smirked, her expression unusually bleak.
She looked at Mario, whose face was extremely ugly, without any
reaction. She told Mario, "Brother, I'm tired. If you have nothing else to
say, I'm going to rest."
Without waiting for Mario's response, she turned and went upstairs.
Mario didn't follow her. He just stood there and watched her go in, until
he couldn't see any figure anymore. Then he took out his phone and
made a call, saying, "Find out who the man is that Sienna has been in
contact with."
Mario had an unhappy expression on his face as he walked towards his
car and drove away.
From their conversation, Rex naturally understood the general idea.
Of course, he also heard clearly the words she said that had nothing to
do with him. Although he understood the meaning behind her words, he
couldn't help but feel uncomfortable listening to them.
However, the smile on the corner of his mouth grew deeper and
deeper, eventually becoming uncontrollable.
He stayed in the car for a while, making sure that Sienna wouldn't go
out again and that no one would come to see her before driving away.
He thought he had concealed it very well, but he didn't know that
Camille had already told her about his arrival in Flento City a long time
ago.
Naturally, she also knew that since he had come to Flento City, he
wouldn't miss secretly watching her.
But neither of them would worry about possible misunderstandings
because they had made an agreement.
Although they didn't contact each other, they constantly kept each other
in mind.
Sienna stood on the balcony, watching the black car's headlights light
up before returning to her room.
She sent Camille a voice message, saying, "Darling, thank you! I feel
so energized now. I think I can fight for another five hundred years. I'm
fully charged.â
Camille replied quickly, saying, "You're welcome! Thank your charger!"
Seeing the word âcharger,â Sienna couldn't help but laugh.
Her mood also became exceptionally good.
However, her behavior displeased Mario. Starting the next day, working
hours were extended, and she was allowed to leave only after Mario
permitted.
This forced control made Sienna feel extremely oppressed, but she
endured it silently without any complaints or resistance.
This silence didn't mean she truly accepted it. It could also mean that
she was accumulating some kind of strength, ready to launch at any
moment.
Rex returned to Hance City the next afternoon.
Ayan, of course, couldn't personally go to pick him up, but he still
arranged for a driver to go to the airport and pick him up.
Then he was taken directly to Simpson Group.
Rex said on the way, "Let's go home and take a shower and rest for a
bit," but Ayan's driver said, "Mr. Baxter, I'm truly sorry, but Mr. Simpson
insisted that I bring you to Simpson Group. Otherwise, it would be a
mistake on my part. I hope you can understand.â
Rex didn't make things difficult for the driver and simply had his
secretary get off halfway.
Then he followed the driver to Simpson Group.
He couldn't help but comment, "Ayan is really something!"
The driver couldn't help but twitch his lips, refraining from laughing
outright. If he did, he might lose his job.
Upon arriving at Simpson Group, the driver escorted Rex all the way to
the office, behaving as if he feared Rex would try to escape.
In the elevator, Rex couldn't help but ask, âWhat else did Ayan arrange
for you to do? If I try to run away, will someone immediately come and
stop me?"
"Mr. Baxter, you've misunderstood. Mr. Simpson is just concerned that
you'll be alone in the elevator, so he instructed me to accompany you,"
the driver replied.
"Cut the nonsense. I know who Ayan is,â Rex didn't believe it, having
known Ayan for so many years, they understood each other very well.
However, his guess was correct. The driver simply didn't dare to say it
out loud. Ayan instructed him that if Rex dared to run away halfway, he
should yell, "Stop the thief!"
Although Ayan gave such instructions, the driver didn't dare to offend
Rex. After all, Rex was the CEO of Ward Group. If they offended him,
there would be consequences.
The driver escorted Rex to the office door, knocked on it, and then
opened it for Rex to enter.
Ayan was in the middle of briefing Kian on work when Rex walked in
and accused Ayan, "Mr. Simpson, you've gone a bit too far, haven't
you?"
Ayan glanced at him with indifference, not sensing any excessiveness
in his actions. He replied in a cold tone, "Speak up. What do you want
to tell me in person?â
Rex refused to speak directly. Instead, he walked over to the sofa, sat
down casually, and then said, "Ayan, if you don't treat me to a meal
today, I won't say it. So, it's up to you."
âYou really won't say it?"
"Yes, I really won't."
"Fine, then don't say it. Kian, see the guest out.â
Ayan wasn't joking at all. After saying this, he lowered his gaze and
started working, showing no sign of hesitation or reluctance as Rex
prepared to leave. He treated Rex as if he were invisible.
The feeling of being ignored completely stunned Rex. He looked at
Kian, standing by the door, both helpless and dumbfounded. He
shrugged and said, "Kian, look at this. Is he even human? I mean, you
work under this kind of demon. Are you really okay?"
Kian chuckled softly, walked in, poured a cup of coffee for Rex, and
placed it in front of him with a slight smile. He said, "Mr. Baxter, if you
have something to say, please go ahead. Otherwise, Mr. Simpson can
endure until you can't hold it anymore without any wavering."
After Kian finished speaking, he quietly exited the office.
Rex was left speechless for several seconds, then a faint smile
appeared on his face. He had made up his mind and immediately got
up, walking towards Ayan's desk, his attitude and voice completely
different from before. He said softly, "Ayan, I was just joking with you
earlier. Since I promised to help you investigate this matter, I'm
definitely on your side. Whatever I find out, I will tell you without any
reservations.â
Ayan didn't make a sound or respond, just continued to focus on the
documents in his hands. Rex wasn't deterred by this coldness and
disregard. He continued, "Ayan, I've been investigating people related
to Preston. Care to guess what I found?"
