Chapter 949: Romance

Ayan stated calmly, "What does it matter?"

"Wouldn't you find it awkward?"

"Why would it be awkward?"

Ayan's question was logical.

Camille, however, furrowed her brows. Well... she found it a bit hard to

put into words. If she were them, she might not dare to.

Camille pursed her lips, as if contemplating, before saying, "It's just a

bit embarrassing."

Ayan let out a low chuckle, "So, you're feeling shy?"

Camille's gaze faltered for a moment. She playfully pinched his arm

before picking up her cola and ignoring him.

The movie they chose for today was a recent emotional drama that was

just on. The ending was tragic, but the journey was captivating.

The movie, running close to two hours, showcased the most captivating

part. The male and female leads parted ways due to a

misunderstanding. The male lead encountered a life-threatening

accident, and it was only then that the female lead learned the accident

had occurred because of her, leading to the complete resolution of their

misunderstandings. However, the male lead was taken away forever.

The female lead regretted deeply, but reality remained unchanged. She

would never love again.

Such endings were rare in contemporary films and TV shows, as most

audiences nowadays preferred happy endings.

After watching the movie, Camille's mood had taken on a subtle

melancholy, an unexplainable sadness lingering within her.

Exiting the cinema, Camille let out a silent sigh. Her voice held a hint of

exhaustion as she said, “I should have known better than to watch this

kind of movie."

She had chosen it herself, attracted by the high online ratings and

positive viewer reviews.

However, now that she had seen it, she felt a bit down.

Ayan held her hand, his voice gentle as he consoled, "It's just a movie,

not reality. Don't overthink it. The director and the screenwriter probably

wanted to break away from the monotony of current films and dramas,

trying to create something unique to attract attention.”

He, naturally, didn't feel the way she did since he clearly understood it

was just a movie.

Camille couldn't help but ask a question, "Do you think we might walk

different paths due to misunderstandings?"

Her gaze locked onto Ayan, and a sense of melancholy colored her

eyes.

Ayan too seemed momentarily surprised, his deep gaze slightly frozen.

In a low, steady voice, he inquired, "Why ask something like that?"

"Because misunderstandings happen to everyone. Even occasionally,

we can find ourselves in a deadlock. So, if you were faced with a

misunderstanding, how would you resolve it?"

Camille was genuinely curious how Ayan would handle

misunderstandings. Considering their history-marriage, divorce, and

now the impending remarriage-there had been quite a few

misunderstandings between them.

Some of these misunderstandings had brought significant impact,

sparking heated arguments. In certain instances, the

misunderstandings had even posed a threat to their relationship.

Since it was unlikely that there wouldn't be any more

misunderstandings in their future, she wondered how he would deal

with them.

Ayan didn't seem to view this as a big deal. He replied,

"Misunderstandings occur when two people fail to communicate openly.

As long as both are honest and clear things up, it should work out.”

"So, you believe the key to a relationship is transparency?"

"Yes," he responded in a soft voice, his eyes fixed on Camille. He

posed a mild question, "And you? What's your take?"

"My thoughts are similar to yours. I also think honesty is crucial.”

Camille replied gently. By now, they had arrived at the car.

However, Ayan's thoughts seemed to linger on Camille's last words. His

gaze settled on her with a mild pause, only shifting when Camille broke

the silence, "Shall we get in the car?"

Ayan refocused, giving a small nod, "Sure."

Once inside the car, Ayan accompanied Camille to the mall. There, they

bought a lot of clothes and toys for Timmy, and Camille also got herself

a new handbag. Ayan paid for all of those. While Camille held the

supplementary card, she hardly used it-preferring to rely on her savings

and income, which left her quite independent financially.

Ayan purchased the handbag for her, and Camille, in turn, bought

luxury cufflinks for Ayan. It was a rare high-end luxury item, and its high

price tag meant it was mostly collected rather than worn.

However, for Ayan, it was quite ordinary. Most of his cuffs were custom-

made, one-of-a-kind.

Receiving the cuffs Camille bought for him, his expression didn't exactly

light up. He looked somewhat indifferent, and there wasn't much

change to his demeanor.

Once they were done shopping and the shopping assistants had

delivered the purchases to the car, Camille and Ayan were alone. It was

then that Ayan asked, his tone composed, "Why didn't you use my card

to buy the cufflinks?"

Camille was momentarily taken aback. She hadn't given it much

thought, so when Ayan brought it up, she was surprised, "What's the

matter?"

Ayan: "Why are you unwilling to use my card?"

Ayan's expression was slightly gloomy, a touch of displeasure showing.

To be honest, Camille found it somewhat amusing. A smile tugged at

the corner of her lips, and she responded, "Oh my, why are you being

so petty? It's not a big deal. Why are you upset?”

“Isn't it customary for men to pay?"

"But this cufflink is a gift from me!" Camille blinked playfully, genuinely

not expecting him to be unhappy because she hadn't used his money.

As she considered the situation, she couldn't help but find it a bit

amusing. However, she managed to keep her laughter in check and

said, "Don't be upset. Since it's a gift from me, of course, I'll pay for it.

Would you be unhappy if I bought you a gift?"

His expression softened slightly, but his gaze remained somewhat

serious. "Of course, I'd be happy if you gave me a gift. But next time,

when you're buying something for me, just use my card directly. I'd be

even happier. Okay?"

Camille was a bit bewildered by his logic, but she couldn't help but sigh,

"Mr. Simpson, are you worried that spending a woman's money makes

you look bad?"

"Of course not." Ayan denied immediately, “I don't think that way. I just

feel that your money is yours to spend, as you see fit. Likewise, my

money is yours to use however you want. I work hard every day to earn

money, so if you don't spend it for me, how am I supposed to feel

valuable?"

His words were not sweet nothings, but rather a sincere perspective.

Every word he spoke was a true reflection of his thoughts.

Camille felt touched, her lips curving into a gentle smile. "Alright, I

understand. So, can we head out for dinner now?"

It was already half-past six in the evening. They had gone to the

movies and then shopping, and time had flown by.

Since it was just the two of them tonight, they naturally chose a chic

and sophisticated restaurant.

Ayan had prepared a bouquet of roses for Camille, imbuing the

atmosphere with a romantic air.

After dinner, they stepped out of the restaurant, and the night had

fallen.

The sky was scattered with stars, adding to the romantic ambiance of

the evening.

Ayan thoroughly enjoyed this atmosphere and couldn't help but

suggest, "How about we don't go home tonight?"
