Chapter 85 âYouâre not hungry!â
Zeke had watched his little human push her food around her plate for a while. That wasnât like her. She always ate, no matter what was going on, âNot particularly,â Ava answered, looking up at him as she put her cutlery down.
She had chosen the seat furthest away from him again, and he and Shadow didnât like that. But he couldnât scare her away; he had to do this right.
âWe donât have much time: Shadow reminded him.
Shadow was all for grabbing her and pinning her down. He had never been known for his patience, and that was more obvious now. But Ava was human, she would never understand Shadowâs nature.
âWant a beer?â he asked.
âNo, thanks âDo you even drink?â Derek asked as he ate.
Of the two of them, his Beta seemed to be trying to get to know Ava. Myles was eating silently, which wasnât like him at all.
âOnly when there arenât people trying to kill me,â Ava snorted as she pushed her stillâfull plate away, He watched her look at the Omegas hovering around the door like irritating insects and then back at her food. She clearly wanted to cat but was holding herself back âAre they bothering you?â he asked.
âNo.â
It was a lie. Ava was uncomfortable, and if he had learned anything lately, it was that it wouldnât take her long to speak her mind, He patiently cut into the steak the Omegas had prepared and hadnât even put it in his mouth when she spoke.
âI donât understand why Iâm sitting here and theyâre standing over there. Thatâs some bullshit,â Ava muttered. âIâm an Omega, too.â
âTheyâre welcome to sit down and eat, but good luck getting them to do that,â he said as he put the steak into his mouth.
âBecause that would be breaking the rules, and you know they wonât do thatâ
He put his cutlery down and sighed as he looked at the trembling Omegas. He didnât remember their names because he made it a point to avoid them and their stupid need to please him.
âLadies, please sit down and enjoy the delicious food you have prepared,â he said âIâm sorry, sir,â the bolder one started with her eyes down. âWe canât do that.â
He looked pointedly at Ava before he picked his cutlery back up. But Ava wasnât pleased. She gave him a look before pushing her chair out and standing. He thought she was leaving the dining room, but instead, she went to stand next to the Omegas and put her head down as well.
âWhat are you going, Ava?â be growled.
Tman Omega. This is where I belong.â
She was his future Luna. She belonged by his side.
âWhat, youâre just going to take my orders? Do everything I say without question?â he challenged her. âAre you going to submit to me, Ava Morgan?â
She didnât even lift her head when the answered him âYes. That is my place,â she said through her teeth.
But her tone suggested that she would never submit. Shadow growled in his head, eager to make her submit for real, eager to have her offer herself and her neck the way she had done before. She was trying his patience in ways he had not known were possible.
He drew his cutlery down and then pusland his chair out, too. The other Omegas flinched, but Ava stood her ground. He stormed towards her and grabbed her hand before pulling her out of the roun.
âWhat are you doing!â Ava asked.
1/2 221 PM Chapter 85 âDonât question me, Omega,â he growled as he walked up.
Ava said nothing else as he pulled her along, but he didnât release her until they were in his bedroom, and he closed the door behind âHave I done something wrong?â she asked quietly, standing in the middle of his room, âStop acting like you have a submissive bone in your body,â he growled. âWhen you submit to me. Ava, you will do it willingly. You will do it because I would have careditâ
He stalked her and watched her body tense the closer he got. But she still kept her eyes down. There was none of the usual fire he usually saw in her eyes, even when she was scared.
He stopped in front of her and raised his hand. Wa sucked in a breath, but she didnât step away. Did that mean she knew, deep down, that he would never hurt hert Her scent wrapped around him, and he closed lus eyes as he savoured it. His body reacted as it always did around her.
âYou will do it because you will realise that what I said is mnie. Youâre mine,â he whispered.
He pulled himself away from her with great dillkully and walked towards the chairs at the other end of his room. He moved them so they were facing each other and then sat in one of them, making sure he adjusted himself so he didnât scare his skittish human âNow, ble please sit down. Ava. We need to talkâ
Ava finally looked up at him and then slowly walked to take the seat he offered, âYes, we do need to talk,â she said âTintly, you need to know that I will never be yours because youâre an Alpha and because I intend to leave this awful place one way or another. And second, weâre in trouble with the Council, and itâs my fault. I didnât mean to drag you into it. If Iâd just stopped being so scared and remembered my training. I would never have been in those situations to start withââ
He ignored the first sentence because she would be his, no matter what, I have come on the Councilâs radar, sooner or later. Iâve prepared myself since my first shift,â he admitted.
(you hadnât attacked Claire. If you hadnât had to save me from lier so many times-
âClaire should have kept herself in line. After my first warning, she should have stayed away,â he cut in. âI will shield you from the Council as I can, Awa, but I need to know what happened in your meeting?
best âNothing. I think they were eager to get rid of me, but in the end, they had the nerve to say Iâm exactly where I need to be even though itâs obvious Iâm human. I didnât understand is until detention tonight. They know we went into the forest. And theyâre coming back to punish us.â
âDid they ask you about it?
Did you Think about it?â
Ava was human and didnât have the necessary skills to keep such strong Council members out of her head. Maybe they knew everything now. They knew what she had done to Claire. Perhaps that was how they had found Claire in the first place.
He frowned as he thought about their next move. If the Council was coming to cart them both off instead of just him, he needed to mark her quickly so she could protect herself.
âNo. I kept them out of my head,â Ava sighed, âI donât know how they know She only thought she kept them out of her head. He sighed as he sat back in his chair.
âWhy donât you tell me everything that happened in that meetingâ
If he left the academy, he would never graduate and then would never be officially recognised as an Alpha Would he have to plan to escape with his mate? Where would they go where the Council couldnât reach them?
