Chapter 230
Trapped in Love
Chapter 230 Why Are You Concealing It?
At night, Caroline went to the hospital to see Lily.
Unexpectedly, as Caroline exited the elevator, she encountered Evan Evan conversing with the doctor.
Her instinct was to avoid him, but Evanâs distant gaze was fixed on her.
Consequently, Caroline steeled herself and approached. While passing by Evan, she gave a nod
âMadam, could you please wait?â
Abruptly, the doctor addressed her in broken English.
Caroline halted and turned. âWhatâs the matter?â
Approaching, the doctor handed her a report. âThis is Ms. Smithâs report. Additionally, Mr. Jordan
wishes to discuss the possibility of another brain surgery for her.â
Caroline got the report, but it was in Spanish, a language she didnât know.
She glanced at Evan. He seemed amused and curious.
Was this intentional?
He might have asked the doctor to give her an unreadable report, thinking she would have to ask
him to explain it to her
Caroline would not let him have his way, so she asked the doctor, âI canât understand this. Could
you give me a basic idea of the situation and why she needs another brain surgery?â
Evanâs expression quickly changed
Was it so hard to make her talk to him out of her initiative? Wasnât she afraid that what the doctor
â said might be different from the report?
The doctor said directly, âLogically speaking, Ms Smith shouldnât be in a coma. Thereâs nothing
wrong with her CT scan, either.
âSo, we want to investigate further and find the reasons.â
âHow big is the risk?â Caroline asked, âCan you guarantee that sheâll wake up?â
âThere will be risks. We canât guarantee sheâll wake up.â
âHow about a conservative treatment?â Caroline asked.
The doctor sighed. âYou know there isnât any result after such a long time.
âBut Ms. Shenton, Iâm very curious about one thing. Who did the brain surgery for her?â

Caroline was stupefied.
Scott was the one who did it, but he would never hurt Lily. She had always been kind to him.
When Caroline thought about this, she dismissed the notion. It couldnât have been Scottâs doing.
In the end. Caroline rejected the doctorâs suggestion. âIf the risk is high with a low cure rate, weâd better
not do it.â
She did not want Lily to suffer the harm of a second brain surgery. It would be best if they could use a
conservative treatment.
Evan sneered âCaroline, for whom are you keeping it a secret?â
Caroline stared at him and said icily, âYou meant for this to happen, didnât you? You must know who
performed that surgery, considering your influence.
âAnd when you found out, you deliberately arranged for the doctor to bring up this matter with me
so that Iâd doubt him!
âEvan, he doesnât pose a threat to you in any way. Why must you
point out his flaws?
âHeâs not God! Itâs unrealistic for all his surgeries to go perfectly
be so petty and have someone.
Evanâs expression darkened slowly. He seemed to radiate a frightening aura. Even the doctor looked
scared and seemed eager to go.
As tension grew between them, Evan let out a scornful laugh filled with sarcasm. âSo, you see me as
an utter bastard. It isnât a big deal even if you think Iâm petty, too!â
Following this, he turned his gaze toward the doctor, his tone frosty. âYou are to withhold any
information about Ms. Smith from her, starting now. If you do, Iâll ensure you all leave my hospital!
â
The doctor wiped his sweat and quickly nodded. âUnderstood, Mr. Jordan.â
Evan walked away, leaving Caroline staring at him. She was about to scold him when the doctor
intervened.
