Alex shifted the conversationâs focus. âI need to ask you something.
âWhatâs up?â Paige inquired.
Alex got to the point. Is Caroline looking to partner with a clothing factory?â
Paige replied, âItâs pretty obvious. She needs to complete her order soon!â
âCould you help me set up a meeting with her?â Alex asked.
Paige eyed him suspiciously. âJust get to it!â
âIâd like to offer my factory for her use temporarily
âWhy didnât you say so sooner? Iâll arrange the meeting tomorrow!â Paige exclaimed.

At 8:00 p.m., Caroline woke up to find Neil speaking quietly on the phone.
Neil was momentarily surprised to see Caroline awake. He said quietly to the phone, âMommyâs. here.
Iâll let you talk to her.â
Neil placed the phone next to Carolineâs ear. âItâs the kids.â
Caroline was surprised. âHello?â
âMommy!â Lioraâs joyful voice came through. âTyler and I are home. When are you coming back?â
Caroline coughed and perked up. âYouâre home? When did you get back?â
âWeâve been home since morning. Tyler and I have been waiting for you all day,â Liora complained.
Caroline smiled. âAlright, Iâll be home soon.â
âTyler and I will be waiting for you,â Liora said.
After hanging up, Caroline sat up immediately.
Neil knew Caroline wanted to go home, so he helped her out of bed âTake it slow.â
Caroline put on her jacket. âI know. Donât worry about me, Neil.â
âHow can I not? Let me know if you need anything. Donât handle everything on your own.â
Caroline was both amused and frustrated. âAm I that incapable?â
Neil affectionately stroked Carolineâs hair. âI know youâre capable, but Iâm your brother.â
âNo oneâs invincible. I understand how busy you are, too,â Caroline replied.
Neil knew his sister was strongâwilled, so he didnât say more.

After getting Caroline settled at home, Neil didnât leave but went into the kitchen to make soup for her.
Caroline spent some time playing with the kids with great effort before coming downstairs to eat after
getting them ready for bed.
Neil handed Caroline a bowl of chicken soup. âCaroline, consider the policeâs fire investigation results
as a reference, not gospelâ
mean?â
âWhat do you mean?â
âDonât you think it might be more effective to investigate people close to you rather than relying solely
on the policeâs findings?â Neil asked.
Caroline blew on her soup, thinking briefly. âSo, youâre suggesting that even if the police find.
some clues, it doesnât necessarily mean theyâve got the whole picture?â
Neil nodded. âExactly. A smart culprit wonât leave behind evidence that points to them. They
might even try to shift the blame elsewhere to divert attention. These people are skilled at hiding.
you know.â
Caroline suddenly remembered something Naomi had mentioned before and shared it with Neil.
âCould it be Naomi? Caroline wondered
Naomi had previously saved her life, even though they werenât friends. It was plausible that Naomi
might be involved. T
â Caroline informed Neil about Naomi.
Neil advised, âOur current analysis is too shallow. Instead of jumping to conclusions, why not set a
trap?â
âAre you suggesting I act suspicious of Kenny to gauge Naomiâs reaction?â Caroline asked.
âYes, exactly. See if she reacts strongly to Kenny. But most importantly, be patient and let the
conversation unfold naturally,â Neil replied.
Caroline nodded. âAlright, Iâll give it a try.â
