Chapter 375
Trapped in Love
Chapter 375 Seek Revenge
Alex entered the smokeâfilled lounge and took a seat beside Evan. He noticed Evanâs bruised
mouth and bloodshot eyes just as he was about to probe for information
He remained silent, opened his liquor bottle, and poured it into his glass. âItâs no fun drinking
alone. Let me join you,â he said, clinking his glass against Evanâs.
Alex finished his drink in one swift gulp and then poured another glass without a word.
After a long pause, Evan finally spoke. âYouâre here to ask me about Caroline, arenât you?â
Visibly frustrated, Alex retorted, âAm I the type of person who cares about everyone but not his
best friend?â
Evan smirked. âIndeed, youâre not. However, that doesnât mean youâre not curious.â
âEvan, I get that youâre in a bad mood, but your words hurt,â said Alex, frowning.
Evan placed his glass down, calmly staring at a spot as he casually stated, âI canât forgive her for
what she did.â
âAre you still suspicious that Caroline was behind Jamieâs story being published?â asked Alex.
Evan fidgeted with his glass. âHmm⦠I canât understand why she let my mother ride the Ferris
wheel alone.â
Alex explained, âThe Ferris wheel incident was an accident, Evan. You canât possibly think
Caroline had a hand in that too, can you?â
Evan glanced at Alex. âIâm not that foolish!â
Alex felt relieved. Otherwise, Caroline might never be forgiven.
âWhen do you plan to visit her?â he asked.
Evan remained silent, picked up his glass, and took a large gulp. He put the glass down and finally
said, âTomorrow!â
Alexâs eyes widened in shock. âAre you serious? Paige told me Carolineâs in a bad state!â
âI donât care! I wonât let this matter bother melâ Evan declared before leaving the lounge.
Alex sighed, wondering if he had driven Caroline further away from Evan.
The next day, Neil arranged for a caregiver to look after Caroline after spending a night with her. As he
prepared to leave, he reminded Caroline. âI have to go to work, Carol. Call me if you need
Caroline nodded. âOkay.â

The caregiver, Mary Rabo, came in to offer Caroline some food after Neilâs departure.
Caroline sat up and declined. âIâm fine. I can eat on my own.â
Mary replied, âAlright, Iâll get you some water.â
After Mary left, Caroline removed the packaging from the chicken soup and forced herself to eat a
little despite her lack of appetite. She couldnât give up because her children were waiting for her
at home.
Enduring the dull pain in her arm, Caroline scooped up a spoonful of soup and was about to take a
sip when the door suddenly swung open. She looked up and saw a man standing there, instantly
tensing up.
She wondered, âWhy is Evan here?â
The memory of yesterdayâs tense encounter flooded her mind, making her feel suffocated.
Evan walked into the room, and Caroline placed the spoon down. âWhat is it?â she asked coldly.
Evan approached the bed, sat on a chair, and adopted an arrogant demeanor. âDonât you owe me an
explanation about my motherâs situation?â he asked coldly.
Carolineâs movements came to a halt. She stared at him in shock. âExplanation? What have I done?
Evanâs expression grew even tenser. âSo, you still wonât admit you kept my mother with you to
gather information for your revenge?â
Caroline was bewildered. âEvan, I didnât know Jamie was your mother at first. How could I have
gathered information from her? Besides, I had no idea what happened between you and her!â
âDidnât you find out after I told you?â Evan questioned.
