Evan glanced at the three men connected to Caroline in some way and scoffed. “Where should I sit?

“What do you mean?” Caroline frowned.

Nodding, Caroline set Axel down and asked worriedly, “Axel, do you eat properly?”

Axel weakly forced a smile. “Yes. I just didn’t sleep well. Mommy, don’t worry.”

But Caroline’s worry persisted, though she didn’t pursue it further because she didn’t have his

custody.

The siblings soon had fun together, and Caroline returned to sit beside Neil.

Kenny moved closer and sat to Caroline’s left, effectively sandwiching her between Neil and

himself.

Evan’s face turned red at the sight. Suppressing his rage, he mocked, “Hmph! What a harmonious

trio!”

“Enough, Kenny!” Caroline intervened.

“Kenny is right.” Neil chimed in. His displeasure was evident as he looked at Evan. “Only narrow-

minded men fail to see Carol’s beauty.”

Evan’s face twisted with disdain. “Is there something wrong with my questions?”

Neil retorted, “Don’t you find them hurtful?”

Evan refused to back down “Did I hurt Caroline or you?”

“Isn’t that a snide remark directed at everyone here?”

Caroline shouted, “Stop arguing!”

Unfortunately, she couldn’t get them to stop

Evan narrowed his eyes and ignored Caroline. “Isn’t that the reality? Xander, I was wrong about you.

Your kids‘ mother stays in touch with so many men, yet you seem to get along with them just fine.”

Neil’s anger flared. “You have no idea. Stop making baseless accusations.”

Evan ridiculed, “I saw it. Isn’t that evidence?”

Caroline tried to intervene again. “Can you guys just stop? Evan, can your thoughts alone be

considered evidence? Why do you think that way?”

“Eh…” Suddenly, Alex asked, “Caroline, is it your kid’s birthday today?”

Caroline felt relieved when Alex stepped in to mediate the situation.
