“No, we’re here to celebrate the kids getting into elementary school,” Caroline clarified

“Tyler and Liora skipped a grade, too?” Alex asked, bewildered. ‘So did Axel”

Paige rolled her eyes. “I don’t think it’s about you.”

Alex countered, “Of course it is. It means Caroline and Evan have strong genes. That’s why their

kids are so smart. I need to learn from them for our kids to excel, too.”

Paige blushed. “You’re shameless.”

“Yes,” Alex agreed. “I’m planning for our future.”

Then, he turned to Neil. “Don’t you think so, Neil?”

Neil suffered in silence while meeting Alex’s gaze. Tyler and Liora are my kids.”

Kenny widened his eyes slowly upon hearing Neil’s statement. ‘Have I missed some gossip? G

Sensing Kenny’s expression, Alex became suspicious. He wondered if Kenny was unaware of it.

Kenny was Caroline’s work partner and friend. Surely, he should know about the relationship

between the children and Neil

Alex then looked at Kenny. “You can’t handle your drinks, Kenny. Just stop. Haven’t you learned

from your past experiences?”

Kenny abruptly stared at Alex. “What did you say?

Alex innocently repeated, “I said you can’t handle your drinks.”

“Damn!” Kenny got competitive. ‘You’re saying I can’t drink? Let’s have a one–on–one to see who’s

stronger.”

An idea crossed Alex’s mind. He had to gauge Kenny’s intentions tonight. “Okay, I won’t back down!”

Kenny angrily ordered some wine to challenge Alex.

Caroline immediately glanced at Neil when his argument with Evan was interrupted. “Go look after the

kids.”

Neil didn’t want to argue with Evan on this special day. He simply stood up to go play with the children.

Paige then handed a glass of wine to Caroline. “Carol, let’s have a drink.”

Caroline was about to accept it when Scott reminded her, “No, you can’t. You’ve just left the hospital.

You need to take care of your injuries.”

Caroline blushed as she regained her senses. “Oh, right, I forgot.”

Scott then offered Caroline a glass of juice. “Have this. The vitamins will help you recover faster.”

“Alright, thanks,” Caroline accepted it.

Evan’s expression darkened when he noticed how tenderly Caroline spoke to Scott. He wondered

why she was so harsh with him but acted differently with Scott. 1

Half an hour later, Evan’s phone suddenly rang

Seeing the unfamiliar number, he stepped outside to take the call.

A hateful voice came through when he answered. “It’s me, Casey.”

“What do you want?” Evan’s face grew cold.

Casey chuckled and explained, “I wanted to let you know that I’m taking Ms. Shenton out for

dinner tomorrow.”

“Casey Jordan!” Evan gritted his teeth. “Don’t you dare get near Caroline!”

Evan’s reaction only amused Casey further. “Are you nervous or scared? Worried I might make a

move on her?”

Evan exploded in anger. “Casey, I’m going to have someone teach you a lesson tomorrow.”
