Chapter 562
Trapped in Love
Chapter 562 Youâre Our Child
Caroline acknowledged Thomas and Greta with a nod as her children rushed toward her.
Liora grinned at Caroline, holding her chin. âYou look better today, Mommy!â.
Caroline smiled back and replied, âYes, Iâll recover soon.â
Tyler retrieved an amulet from his pocket and handed it to Caroline, saying, âThis is for you, Mommy.â
Caroline was taken aback as she examined the amulet, noticing the word âsafetyâ engraved on it.
Overwhelmed by emotion, she softly said, âThank you, sweetheart.â
Tyler spoke again. âWeâre going back with Eira this noon, Mommy. Take good care of yourself and
come
home sooner.â
Caroline nodded, saying, âYes, I think 111 transfer back to a hospital in Angelbay.â
She then turned her attention to Neil and expressed her gratitude, saying, âThank you for looking after
my
kids these past two days, Neil.â
Neil glanced at Thomas and Greta and replied, âYou donât need to thank me.â
Caroline followed Neilâs gaze, realizing that Thomas and Greta had also been caring for her children.
She
said, âThank you for taking care of my kids.â
Greta chimed in with a warm smile. âWell, weâre like a family.â
Caroline was puzzled by Gretaâs statement and glanced at Neil, seeking clarification.
However, Neil walked over to the two children and patted their shoulders, instructing them, âGo for a
walk
with Eira. I need to talk to your mother.â.
The children nodded and left the room to find Eira. Thomas, Greta, and Neil gathered around
Carolineâs
bed with the kids gone.
Neil spoke solemnly. âCaroline, please forgive me for allowing Aunt Greta to contact you without your
permission.â
Caroline was stunned by Neilâs admission.
Neil introduced Thomas and Greta, raising his hand toward each of them. âThis is Uncle Tom and Aunt
Greta.â
Carolineâs initial gentleness turned into caution, and she said coldly, âYouâve put me in a very difficult

Neil explained helplessly, âTheyâre different from Grandpa, Carol.â
Thomas intervened while listening to the conversation, saying, âCarol, I understand you donât have a
good relationship with your grandfather, but donât worry. Greta and I wonât force anything upon you.â
Caroline apologized sternly, âI canât accept any other Xander except Neil.â
Thomas was taken aback by Carolineâs deepâseated prejudice against the Xander family.
Neil turned to Thomas and Greta, saying, âGrandpa nearly got Carol killed. Please give her some time
to adjust.â
Caroline responded with determination. âNice words wonât change my stance. I canât acknowledge the
Xanders.â
Greta quickly clarified. âThatâs not what we want, Carol. We never intended to force you to reunite with
your grandfather.â
Caroline was puzzled and asked, âThen what do you want?â
Greta explained with tenderness, âThomas and I just wanted to visit you. We consider you part of our
family because youâre Ellieâs child.â
Caroline felt a pang at the mention of her motherâs nickname and lowered her gaze.
Seeing her reaction, Neil nodded at Thomas.
Thomas continued. âCarol, I believe itâs time you learned more about your mother and why we wonât
pressure you to rejoin our family.â
Caroline nodded slowly, signaling her readiness to hear the story.
Thomas said, âIâm sure Neil has told you that your father was a liveâin sonâinâlaw, and your
grandfather
opposed their marriage. Initially, your grandfather wanted your mother to divorce your father after Neil
was born, but your mother stood her ground.
âShe continued to defy your grandfather even when she became pregnant with you during the third
year of
their marriage. As your birth neared, your grandfather changed tactics and falsely accused your father
of
stealing company documents.
