Chapter 564
Trapped in Love
Chapter 564 Stop Feeding Me
Suddenly, Evan entered and calmly spoke. âDepartment of Commerce and the police station.â
Everyone turned to look at him simultaneously.
Neil frowned and remarked, âI didnât expect you to eavesdrop.â
Evan glanced at the door. âI wasnât eavesdropping. The door isnât closed.â
However, Greta wasnât bothered and asked Evan, âWhy did you mention the Department of
Commerce?â
Evan took his seat. âIf Carolineâs father was killed, he might have been involved in something others
wanted.â
Caroline furrowed her brow at his conjecture. âSo, youâre suggesting that my father might have crossed
someoneâs interests. All the bidding contracts are documented if it is a business competition. We can
start our investigation there. Is that what youâre implying?â
Evan nodded. âYes. Your time as my secretary wasnât in vain.â
Caroline turned to Neil and said, âNeil, can you check the bidding records of the company during our
fatherâs tenure?â
Neil agreed, âOf course, leave it to me.
âCaroline, weâll do our best too,â Greta reassured her. âTake some rest. Donât stress yourself.â
Caroline nodded. âAlright, I will⦠Uncle Tom, Aunt Greta.â
Greta held Carolineâs hand in excitement. âThatâs my girl! Iâm truly honored youâve embraced me as
your
aunt.â
Caroline smiled, albeit helplessly.
After Neil took Thomas and Greta out for a meal, Caroline asked Evan, âArenât you going to grab a
bite?â
âReuben will bring it here,â Evan replied while texting on his phone.
Caroline briefly glanced at his phone. âIf youâre busy, you should head back to Angelbay.â
Evan paused, flashing Caroline a smile. âSo, youâre saying you donât mind me staying here if Iâm not
busy?â
Caroline regretted her words instantly, feeling speechless. She decided to ignore him

Half an hour later, Reuben delivered lunch for them.
It was no longer just a bowl of chicken soup but a lavish feast.
The delightful aroma stirred Carolineâs appetite.
After Reuben neatly arranged the overbed desk, he placed the dishes on it one by one. âMr. Jordan
asked
me to get these for you, Ms. Shenton. Theyâre all your favorites.â
Carolineâs hand stiffened as she picked up a fork, her cheeks turning red. She wasnât accustomed to
Evanâs recent attentiveness, and Reubenâs words made her uneasy. She couldnât adapt to Evanâs
sudden
change.
âYou talk too much,â Evan snapped at Reuben.
Immediately, Reuben fell silent and obediently opened the takeout containers. He stood by quietly.
Evan glared at him. âGet out!â
Surprised, Reuben glanced at Caroline and realized Evan wanted to feed her.
Once Reuben left, Evan got up and grabbed the fork Caroline was struggling with.
âWhy didnât you ask for my help if you couldnât open it?â Evan asked, his tone gloomy.
Caroline was rendered speechless yet again. She knew she wasnât helpless.
After unwrapping the fork, Evan scooped some food onto a spoon and held it close to Carolineâs lips.
Caroline shiveredâshe couldnât accept his care. She snatched the fork with her left hand. âStop feeding
me. I can eat by myself. I canât get used to you taking care of me.â
Evan silently agreed before getting up and saying, âI need to use the restroom.â
With that, he left.
Caroline slowly used her left hand to take some food. As she was about to eat, she heard a text
notification. She reached for the phone on her bedside table, assuming it was her phone.
