Evan entered the car, radiating coldness.

She thought of the voice recording and felt powerless, knowing Casey was blackmailing her.

With a forced composure, Caroline asked, “What did he tell you?”

Evan was taken aback. “Are you two getting engaged?”

Caroline lowered her gaze, unable to meet Evan’s eyes. “Yes,”

Evan was shocked. He grasped Caroline’s shoulder, his grip tightening. “What are you saying?”

“He’s Casey! I warned you repeatedly to stay away from him! Why would you suddenly get engaged to

him?” Evan demanded.

Caroline met his gaze, enduring the pain. “If you can be with Daniella, why can’t I be with someone

else? What gives you the right to be so selfish?”
