Chapter 628
Trapped in Love
Chapter 628 Pointless Trip
Caroline sat up straight, her face ghostly pale as the car came to a gradual stop. âIâm fine,â she
muttered.
She turned to the bodyguard and asked, âWhatâs happening?â
The bodyguard replied, âI believe we have a flat tire, Ms. Shenton. Iâll check it out.â
âAlright.â Caroline nodded and continued speaking to Evan. âI have a flat tire. Can you please take the
children back to Bayview Villa later?â
Evan asked anxiously, âWhere are you?â
Caroline replied, âIâm on the coastal highway, not far from the office.â
âGot it.â Evan said before ending the call.
Caroline stepped out of the car and bent down beside the bodyguard, inspecting the flat tire. She
asked,
Is it indeed a flat tire?â
The bodyguard stood up and confirmed, âYes, Ms. Shenton. Weâll need to get it towed. Please wait in
the
car.â
Caroline reminded him, âMake sure to set up a warning sign.â
âOf course,â he replied.
î
Caroline returned to the car and patiently waited for the tow truck.
While waiting, Caroline received a call from Scott. His warm voice came through, saying, â
Congratulations, Carol.â
She smiled and teased, âYouâre a bit slow on the uptake.â
Scott chuckled and explained, âI donât frequent online forums, you know. I only found out because the
hospital called me in.â
Caroline was surprised. âYouâre allowed back?â
âYes, and thatâs also why Iâm calling. You donât need to compensate me anymore,â Scott said.
Caroline blushed and replied, âScott, your return to work and my compensation are separate matters.â
Scott said, âI did get a twoâday break thanks to you. I saw Tyâs video clip. He really came through for
you
this time.â

Caroline sighed. âYes, but it was Evan who helped by Informing Ty. It wouldnât have been so easy
without
him.â
Scott fell silent for a moment. âIn that case, he did you a big favor once again. What do you plan to do?â
î
Caroline looked down, uncertain about whether she would reconcile with Evan. Still, she knew she
couldnât treat him harshlyâshe owed him too much.
Scott advised, âTake your time to think it over. Iâm heading to the hospital.â
Caroline suggested, âLundi Gras is the day after tomorrow. Join us for dinner.â
Scott chuckled. âNo worries. I promised the kids Iâd get them masks for the parade.â
Caroline waited in the car for a while, and Evan arrived before the tow car. Surprised, she rolled down
her
window and asked, âWhy did you come here?â
Evan opened the door and said, âIâm here to pick you up. Itâs cold out here. Donât wait.â
Caroline protested, âThereâs heating in the car. Iâm not cold!â
Evan stopped and turned to her, saying, âIf youâre not cold, I am. Do you want me to make a pointless
trip?â
Caroline was rendered speechless by the flimsy excuse.
After getting into Evanâs car, Reuben turned and greeted her, âItâs been a while, Ms. Shenton.â
Caroline nodded gratefully. âThank you for your help, Reuben.â
Reuben felt a shiver down his spine at the word âhelpâ. Taking care of Liora had almost driven him mad,
especially when she tried to put makeup on him.
He smiled awkwardly and replied, âNo problem. Itâs my pleasure.â
î
Sensing a stern gaze from behind, he quickly focused on driving them to Villa Rosa.
