Chapter 643
Trapped in Love
Chapter 643 Why Blame Yourself?
At midnight, Kenny and Alex set up and lit the fireworks.
The crowd of people exchanged smiles as the fireworks illuminated the night sky.
Evan glanced at Reuben, who then retrieved three thick gift packets brimming with money from the car. He handed the packets to Evan, who
distributed one to each child.
Liora touched her gift and beamed, exclaiming, âThis is thick. It must be full of money!â
Neil and the others walked over and presented their gifts to the three children.
After expressing their gratitude, Tyler turned to Caroline and asked, âMommy, did you prepare gifts for us?
Caroline said, âDonât you already have enough gifts?â
Tyler insisted, âWouldnât you like to give us gifts too, Mommy?â
Caroline smiled and began giving her gifts to the children one by one. âAxel, Ty, Lia, Happy Mardi Gras! May you grow strong and healthy!
The three children chorused, âHappy Mardi Gras, Mommy!â
âHappy Mardi Gras!â Suddenly, Evanâs voice echoed from behind.
Caroline turned, her face illuminated by the colorful fireworks, and replied, âHappy Mardi Gras!â
On Mardi Gras morning at 5:00 a.m., Caroline woke the children, got them ready, and fed them before
taking them to the graveyard.
Neil was already waiting outside.
Seeing Caroline and the children, he approached and said, âThe things are ready, Carol.â
Confused, Liora rubbed her sleepy eyes and asked, âMommy, where are we going?â
Caroline gently patted Lloraâs head and answered, âIâm taking you to visit Grandma, Lia.â
Lioraâs eyes widened as she recalled, âGrandma? Oh, I remember now. You said I have two Grandmas, but
theyâre goneâ¦
â
Caroline assured, âIâm taking you to visit them today.â
âOkay.â

Caroline and Neil held each childâs hand as they walked toward the graveyard. Katie and Lily were buried
there.
Caroline first led them to Lilyâs tombstone.
The children placed a bouquet in front of the tombstone. Observing Carolineâs silence, Nell said, âCarol,
arenât you going to speak to Lily?â
Caroline smiled bitterly and shook her head, I always feel like Lily didnât die from the surgery but was
murdered. However, I havenât found the murderer or the cause of her death, so I canât bring myself to talk
to her.â
Neil reasoned, âWhy blame yourself when this matter has nothing to do with you?â
Caroline slowly shook her head. âLily wouldnât be in this situation if it werenât for me.â
âMommy, if youâre sad, the departed wonât be happy in heaven either,â Axel said, gently squeezing
Carolineâs hand.
Caroline was taken aback but soon smiled and said, âYouâre right.â
After visiting Lily, Caroline and Neil took the children to visit Katie. The three children gazed at the photo
on the tombstone. Caroline motioned for them to place the bouquet.
The children followed her instructions, and Caroline wiped the tombstone with a tissue. âMother, I
brought the children to visit you. Do you think they resemble me?â
