Evan unbuttoned his collar, “This is unnecessary,” he muttered.

Alex’s eye twitched, “So, what do you think women actually like?”

Evan glanced at Alex. “Just give ‘em money, right? They can get whatever they want.”

Alex let out a forced chuckle. “You’re not romantic at all. No wonder your attempts to win over Caroline aren’t working.”

Evan’s gaze turned cold. “Shut up!”

Alex looked away, annoyed, “Let’s focus on work!”

At 5:30 p.m., their masseuses woke up Caroline and Paige. They sat up, still drowsy.

Caroline checked her phone and mumbled, “It’s 5:30…”

Paige yawned and said, “Let me see if Alex is finished with his task.”

“Task? I thought he was getting a massage? Caroline furrowed her brow, puzzled.

Paige was stunned but recovered quickly, saying, “I misspoke, I meant if he’s done with his massage.”

Caroline looked at Paige strangely. “You better not be hiding anything from me.”

Paige laughed. “I’d never keep anything from you, I’m a trustworthy friend.”

Paige called Alex but was met with a busy signal. She hung up and said, ‘Why isn’t Alex answering?”

Caroline got changed and suggested, “Maybe he’s asleep?”

“I don’t know. I’ll call again.” Paige tried once more and got the same busy signal.

“What is he up to?” Paige tapped her phone in frustration.

Caroline handed Paige her clothes. “Let’s get dressed and go find him.”

Paige thought, ‘How am I supposed to find him when he’s with Evan, working on setting up Caroline and

Evan?

Paige’s task was to gauge Caroline’s feelings for Evan and text him an ‘okay‘ emoticon if Caroline was

interested. She sighed.

“How coincidental that he’s also busy.” Caroline scrutinized Paige as she spoke.

Sensing Caroline’s gaze, Paige chuckled and suggested, “Let’s eat, shall we?”

Caroline didn’t press further and followed Charon to the restaurant. She noticed the absence of the kids

and asked, “Where are the children?‘

Charon assured, “Don’t worry, Ms. Shenton, Mr. Jordan has arranged meals for the children. The adult

menu isn’t suitable for them.”

Caroline glanced at Paige. “She can’t have smoked foods either because she’s pregnant.

Charon explained, “Mr. Jordan has made alternative arrangements for Ms. Watson.”

Caroline contemplated how Evan had arranged everything but was nowhere to be found. “He’s acting all

mysterious.

Paige grabbed Caroline’s arm, “Let’s not worry about them. We’ll eat and let them starve!”

They sat down, and the waiters began serving the meal. The courses were served one by one, and

Caroline and Paige chatted as they ate, their focus distracted from Alex and Evan.

By 7:00 p.m., they had finished dinner.

Charon asked, “Ladies, would you like to order anything else?*

Paige and Caroline shook their heads.

“Alright, please follow me,” Charon said, leading the way.

Caroline and Paige exchanged glances and followed Charon.

As they stepped out of the room, they were greeted with a breathtaking sight. The corridor was adorned

with flower petals of different colors, and a path lit with red candles lay before them.
