Evan grabbed the liquor from the shelf, poured a glass, and downed it.

Alex got a bottle of wine, poured it into a glass, and took a sip.

Evan shot him a disapproving look. “Why are you out if you don’t want to drink?”

“Why vent your anger on me? Paige loves her alcohol. It won’t be good if she smells it on me!” Alex

retorted.

Evan took the bottle, sat on the sofa, and downed drinks one after another.

Alex sighed and approached Evan. “What’s going on with you? You don’t tell me when I ask.”

‘Scott asked me what two single, grown people would do!” Evan exuded a dangerous vibe.

‘Scott? Referring to him and Caroline?” Alex was shocked.

“Or else?” Evan asked.

Alex sat down quickly. “Scott doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would say such things. Why would

he ask you that out of nowhere? This is clearly meant for you to imagine on your own!”

Evan shared the earlier incident with Alex.

Alex said, “Ah, no wonder he said that. You provoked him first.”

“How is it my fault? He always had feelings for Caroline! In fact, they wanted to be together at one point!”

Evan said angrily.

“What’s wrong with that? They were both single at the time. Moreover, Scott took good care of Caroline.

His actions.would move her. The key question is, what does Caroline think about it?”

“What can she think about it now? She’s mine!” Evan said in agitation.

“That’s not it. It’s about whether Caroline has told Scott that she is choosing you. I find it quite

ore in her understandable. Both of them are unmarried, and the man is outstanding. I’d marry him if I were in

place!”

Evan said, “Is he more outstanding than me?”

Alex said, “He is not as outstanding as you, but he is gentle and meticulous. He doesn’t even have a temper and sacrificed himself for Caroline

for so many years. It’s not something that anyone can

Alex said, “Has Caroline explained the situation to you?”

“Fuck! Isn’t that a blatant provocation? Was Scott provoking you intentionally so you’d get pissed off and

quarrel with Caroline?” Alex realized the situation.

Evan’s action of pouring himself a drink halted.

Alex said anxiously, “I remembered something that Paige told me previously. Scott once made an

expression on purpose, which terrified her.”

Evan frowned. “What kind of expression?”

Alex said, “I don’t know the details, but Paige told me that Scott didn’t appear jealous at all when he witnessed your interaction with Caroline!

Does that count as him having feelings for her? I wouldn’t be able to do that if I were him! If he doesn’t have feelings for her, what is his

intention of getting close to

Caroline then?”

Evan thought to himself quietly.

“Have you ever looked into Scott’s background?” Alex asked.

Evan took a sip of his drink and said, “No.”

“Look into it then! I can feel that something is off,” Alex reminded.
