Chapter 48
The Heiress’ Return & Revenge
Chapter 48 She Would Show No Mercy
Before the crew members returned with the list of items, the child obediently stayed in Simoneâs arms,
playing with her bronze coins.
Simone asked Jonah how long it would take, and after he made his phone call, he replied, âThey didnât
finish gathering materials in the town, so they went to the county. It should take about two hours to
make the round trip.â
Then, Simone suggested, âLetâs go back to the courtyard to rehearse while we wait.â
Sitting here for over two hours is just a waste of time. In the meantime, Zac and the others also had the
same thought. âLetâs head back, then.â
Simone returned the child to his mother. âOnce I receive the materials, Iâll make the talisman and send
it over.â
Rossâ wife took the child from her and murmured, âThat would be great. Thank you, Miss Gray.â
Then, she invited them by saying, âDonât cook tonight and come by my house for dinner.â
âThatâs a great idea,â Ross chimed in. âYou must come to my house for dinner tonight.â
Then, he could ask her privately about the charge.
Simone turned to the other three. âShould we come over for dinner tonight?â
Zac smiled. âSure. Looks like we donât have to worry about dinner tonight as well. It seems being on the
same team with you is the best. We have nothing to worry about.â
Eric smiled and teased, âWeâre riding your wave of good luck again tonight.â
Keira agreed with them. Thatâs right! Weâll ride along with you and get a free meal.â
Receiving their agreement, Simone turned to Ross and his wife. âThank you for your kind hospitality.â
The couple waved their hands hurriedly. âNo worries. Weâre very grateful to you.â
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Simone and her group prepared to leave.
When the child in Rossâ wifeâs arms saw Simone was about to leave, he suddenly changed from being
obedient to throwing a fit and crying. âPeety! I want peety!â
As he was crying, he reached his arms out to Simone, clearly indicating he wanted her to hold him.
Seeing the child crying so pitifully, Simone picked him up, and the child immediately stopped crying. He
held onto Simoneâs neck and said, âPeety!â
Embarrassed, Rossâ wife tried to take the child back. âCome here. Iâll carry you. The pretty lady will
come over later.â
But the child held onto Simone tightly and said. âNo. Want peety.â

Although he might be young, he felt comfortable around the pretty lady and wasnât as afraid anymore.
Moreover, the young woman was pretty, felt soft, and smelled fragrant. He liked her a lot.
At a loss for words, Ross wife inwardly chastised her son for choosing a pretty woman over his mother.
She cocidnât help but smile wryly and explain. âMy son has always been selective with people.
Normally, he wonât let anyone except his grandmother and us hold him. I didnât expect him to become
so attached to you.â
This had never happened before, and it showed that Simone was indeed skilled. It was said that
children had a strong sixth sense.
Seeing this situation, Simone smiled and suggested. âWhy donât I take him back to play with us? Iâll
send him back when we come over for dinner later.
With their son being so clingy, the couple couldnât say no. âAlright, then. Weâre sorry for the trouble,
Miss Gray.
Deep down, however, they were happy to have Simone spend time with her son. Maybe their son could
share some of her good fortune.
Therefore, Simone and the others returned to their home with a cute little child in tow.
When they returned, the other team had already returned from helping the villagers.
Today, Leon searched the village but didnât find a suitable job, so he returned to the farmerâs house.
where he had previously helped pack vegetables. That job wasnât as tiring, and they could each receive
thirty coins and get a free lunch.
The four of them were sitting in the courtyard drinking water when they saw Simone returning with the
child in her arms. They were all a bit puzzledi
Aaron was intrigued and asked, âIs your job for today looking after a child?â
At the mention of looking after a child, he couldnât help but recall the feeling of being dominated by that
little rascal on his first day here.
In the meantime. Jodie seemed to recall that day as well. Seeing Simone with a smiling and well-
behaved child in her arms, Jodie kept a composed expression, but she tightened her grip on her skirt.
Why was it that when she took care of the child, he would cry and throw tantrums at every little thing?
With Simone, however, it was a different story
Hearing Aaronâs question, the audience also recalled how Jodie had volunteered to take care of the
children on her first day here.
âDoes anyone still remember the incident where Jojo made a wellâbehaved child cry?
âHow could I not? The childâs grandmother even got upset and chased them away.
Judging by Aaronâs expression, he seems to have a phobia of naughty children.
âWell, the child was not naughty and was actually wellâbehaved before Jojo came overâ¦.
There is no harm without comparison.â

them! In Aaronâs and Jodieâs fansâ words, children have the sharpest eyes.
Til The comment above is spot on!
Both Arronâs and Jodieâs fans dared not appear as they felt quite embarrassed.
Zac glanced at Aaron and said, âWe didnât take on a babysitting job.â
He arrogantly added, âThis little cutie saw that Simone was pretty and kept clinging to her.â
When the child heard his words, he seemed to agree and held Simoneâs neck. âPeety! Peety!â
Jodie was speechless. I canât wait to get rid of this kid!
Meanwhile, Aaron didnât expect such a reason, but he had to admit that his biological sister was indeed
pretty, combining all the best features of their parents. Of course, the five of them didnât look bad either.
He then asked, âWhere in the village did you meet this child?â
âWe didnât meet him. This is the child Simone helped, Zac explained.
Puzzled, Aaron repeated, âShe helped his child? What does he meant
Looking proud. Zac recounted what happened at Rossâ home. âIf it werenât for Simone, this little cutic
would still be crying in his motherâs arms right now. He even ditched his mother and insisted on sticking
with Simone.â
Aaron was taken aback and gave Simone a complicated look. He had always known that his biological
sister knew physiognomy and geomancy. After all, the old man who adopted her did this kind of work,
but they never really took it seriously.
Back at the Gray Residence, Simone had previously assisted Aaron and Andrew with her expertise in
geomancy. However, she used to believe that her knowledge in this field was limited.
The family was aware that Simone had studied geomancy in college, but they didnât know what to
make of it. They had assumed she was merely a casual enthusiast, but now it was evident that she
possessed considerable skill in this area.
She had previously used physiognomy to save Deuceâs son, and now she was helping Deuceâs
cousinâs son. This was not something an amateur could accomplish. It appeared that they had
underestimated their biological sister.
Unable to contain his curiosity, he glanced at Simone and asked, âWhy donât you take a look at me?â
Simone found Sc*mbag No. 5 to be quite bothersome. He didnât bother her when she was being kind to
him at home, but now that she was ignoring him, he kept seeking her attention.
Therefore, she calmly declined. âThere are three types of individuals in our line of work that we are
unable to assess. You happen to fall into one of those categories, so please refrain from asking me
again.â
Since Sc*mbag No. 5 had provoked her first, she would show him no mercy. She knew that given his

personality, he would undoubtedly want to uncover the truth. This way, she could provide the gossip-
hungry crowd with more room for speculation and allow the paparazzi to find a direction to investigate
for a story.
Meanwhile, Aaron didnât anticipate Simoneâs rejection. Just as Simone had predicted, he furrowed his
brow and inquired, âWhich three types of people? Canât you be more straightforward?â
He clearly didnât believe her words and thought she was being dismissive towards him.
