Chapter 1008
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

âIâm sorry. I was wrong again. He still doesnât believe our mom.â
âItâs okay, Sophie,â Calvin reassured her.
âYouâve done everything you could. No one can figure out whatâs going on in their heads. Do you think our mom will be okay?â
Sophie nodded.
âNo worries. Heâll have someone keeping an eye on our mom. Besides, doesnât our momâs phone have a tracker? We can use that to track her down if we need to.â Calvin nodded in agreement.
Elma sniffled and hugged Sophie tightly.
âSophie, our mom doesnât want me anymore!â
Sophie patted Elmaâs head gently.
âOur mom would never abandon you,â she soothed.
âShe just canât remember us right now.â
Elmaâs tears flowed freely, but she eventually managed to calm down.
âWill our mom remember us one day?â she asked, her voice small and filled with worry.
Sophie wanted to be honest and say she didnât know, but seeing Elmaâs tear-filled eyes, she couldnât bring herself to say so.
âShe will. Sheâll definitely remember us one day.â
Reassured by Sophieâs words, Elma finally stopped crying.
Back in his study, Jake poured himself a stiff drink and took a long gulp. But he still couldnât shake the image of Kallie from his thoughts. The scene of Kallie, her beautiful eyes filled with tears, looking so vulnerable and delicate, replayed in his mind. He hadnât seen that look on her face since their first divorce.
A strange unease settled over Jake, and he couldnât seem to shake it off. Driven by a sudden urge, he called the bodyguard he had assigned to follow Kallie.
âWhatâs she doing?â
âDoing?â he asked, his voice tight with worry.
âHas she gone back to the Nixon familyâs estate?â
Jakeâs temples pounded, and he could feel the veins in his forehead pulsing. He massaged his temples, trying to ease the tension.
âNo, sir,â the bodyguard replied.
âShe hasnât gone back to the Nixon familyâs estate. She seems lost, just wandering the streets aimlessly.â
Jakeâs frown deepened.
âWhy isnât Kallie coming back to the Nixon family estate?â he asked, his voice edged with suspicion.
âIs she going to meet someone?â
The bodyguard hesitated.
âIâm not sure, sir. She hasnât met with anyone since leaving the Reeves family estate. I have no idea where sheâs going.â
