Chapter 1009
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Pausing, the bodyguard added, âWait. Sheâs stopped in front of a hotel. It looks like sheâs going to stay there.â
âWhy would she suddenly decide to stay at a hotel?â Jake wondered aloud, suspicion coloring his tone.
âDo you think she spotted you?â
The bodyguard felt a bead of sweat trickle down his forehead.
âNo, sir, I donât think so. Iâm not a professional, but Iâm pretty sure I wasnât seen.â
Jake was even more confused now. After a moment of silence, he said, âCome back. I think she might be trying to mislead us.â
âYes, sir,â the bodyguard replied. He took one last look at Kallie as she disappeared into the hotel, then turned and left.
Kallie found a modest hotel and went inside. She had just realized she didnât have any money with her. She didnât want to go back to the Reeves family estate and face those strangers. She needed a place to stay for the night. She had a plan. Since she couldnât remember anything and didnât want to contact the man who claimed to be her husband, she could go to the police. They would surely help her get home.
Without money on her, Kallie took off her watch at the reception when she checked in. She had a feeling it was worth a lot of money.
âI donât have any money, but I have this watch. Will this do?â she asked.
The hotel ownerâs eyes widened when he saw the gold, gem-encrusted watch. He recognized the brand immediately. If it was real, it was worth a small fortune. But the woman standing before him, despite her beauty, didnât look wealthy. He eyed her suspiciously.
Your imagination takes flight on gⱯlnÏνð®âsâ¤com âYouâre not trying to con me, are you?â he asked.
âThis watch must be fake.â
His eyes darted to the necklace Kallie was wearing.
âWhy donât you give me that necklace, too?â he suggested.
Kallie said calmly, âEven if itâs a fake, itâs clearly a high-quality replica. It must be worth a few hundred dollars at least. And your rooms are only sixty dollars a night. Even if the watch is fake, itâs enough to cover several nights. Besides, Iâm not planning on going anywhere for a few days. You can have it authenticated anytime.â
The owner hesitated, his eyes flickering with a mix of greed and suspicion.
âFine. Since youâre so insistent, I wonât cause any trouble. Hereâs your key card. You can go to your room now.â He tossed the key card carelessly toward Kallie, a sneer playing on his lips.
As Kallie turned to leave, she failed to notice the predatory gleam in the ownerâs eyes.
The moment she was out of sight, the owner produced his phone and dialed a number, his voice a hushed whisper.
âDid you see her on the security cameras? Sheâs stunning, a real beauty. We have a chance here. Whatâs there to be afraid of? If she were someone important, she wouldnât be staying in this dump. I checked her jewelry. Itâs the real deal. Sheâs probably some rich guyâs mistress, hiding out. We need to move quickly. Opportunities like this donât come around often. Sheâs already in her room. Get everything ready.â
