Chapter 284
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

A mocking thought struck Bria, and she laughed derisively. âJust look at Kallie, looking so content. Does she actually believe my brotherâs lies? Sheâs so gullible.â
Noemi nodded and echoed Briaâs disdain. âExactly. Sheâs suffered out there and now returns as a fake family member, thinking she can manipulate the Nixon family. But your grace is something Kallie could never emulate, not in a hundred years.â
Flattered, Bria chuckled. A moment later, something amusing crossed her mind. âBy the way, I remember Jake dropped by a few days ago. Ewing wouldnât tell me why he came, but I figured it out myself. Jake came to divorce Kallie.â
Bria clicked her tongue in disdain. âI heard Kallie was adopted by the Reeves, depending on them. Then, she shamelessly enticed Jake and married him, and now theyâre divorced. Sheâs just a pregnant, discarded woman.â
Noemi chimed in, âTruly. Itâs intriguing what she plans to do after being ousted. I heard she was quite resolved about the divorce, without any hesitation.â
Bria scoffed. âHow could she not be resolved? The Nixon family is leagues above the Reeves. She thought she was stepping up in the world, so she scorned the Reeves. Besides, Jake isnât doing well now.â
Noemi spoke softly. âMiss, if Mr. Reeves struggles in the future, would youâ¦â
With a dismissive flip of her hair, Bria cut her off, âWhat are you implying? Only the finest men deserve me. I respected Jake for his competence. If he falls into ruin, heâs worthless. Even if heâs handsome and my type, why would I settle for a loser?â
Bria added with a cunning grin, âBut Iâm not without compassion. If he really struggles and comes begging, maybe Iâll amuse myself with him for a while.â
Noemi commented, âMiss, youâre too generous.â
Then, Noemi added, âMr. Klein Nixon is planning a welcome banquet for Kallie. Miss, you might want to prepare yourself.â
Upon hearing this, Briaâs smile disappeared. She replied with a hint of impatience, âI understand. Iâll follow my brotherâs instructions.â
Bria then muttered bitterly, âThat Kallie, who does she think she is? Sheâs a fraud, and Iâll unmask her someday.â
The day of the welcome banquet finally arrived.
Although Klein had generously provided a dress and jewelry, Kallie had no intention of using them.
Ewing, ever considerate, had arranged for a different set and even organized a styling team.
Unfortunately, all three dresses from Ewing were found to be mysteriously ruined, clearly a result of sabotage.
Trent, the one who had delivered these items, was visibly upset. âMiss, donât worry. Iâll get to the bottom of this and find out who had the audacity to do such a thing,â he assured her.
Kallie sighed, suspecting Bria was behind the sabotage but chose to dismiss the matter. It wasnât worth the confrontation.
Kallie used sign language to ask, which was swiftly interpreted by the servant standing nearby. âIf I donât have a dress, can I wear one of my own? Donât worry. I do have one.â
Trent shook his head, explaining, âMiss, perhaps youâre not aware, but the Nixon family holds significant wealth. The young gentlemen and ladies are expected to wear items valued in the millions to any event. If you donât, it could lead to gossip, and Mr. Tyrone Nixon would take offense. Now with Mr. Ewing Nixon in charge, any rumors could prove problematicâ¦â
