Chapter 325
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

The man gave a final nod and quickened his pace to leave. It felt as though he hadnât heard her shout Jakeâs name at all.
Looking at Sophieâs bright, cheerful face, Kallie had mixed feelings. Perhaps she was overthinking it.
Kallie had wavered before giving her consent to the manâs request. She had planned to return to Avalon the day after tomorrow. She figured sheâd have to make the trip once more and hadnât anticipated he would be heading to Avalon as well. Why was he so interested in Avalon?
Just then, her phone buzzed with a call from Ewing.
Ewing remarked, âI just got back and saw the gift you sent. Itâs wonderful. I really appreciate it.â
Kallie smiled warmly. âNo need to be so formal. Your support was the key to my voice recovering. Iâm the one who should be thanking you instead.â
Ewingâs tone softened. âIs Sophie with you? Iâve been buried in work lately, and my father is just as swamped. He doesnât have the time to spend with her.â
Kallie frowned. âEven if youâre busy, you need to rest. When I brought Sophie to see you today, the servant mentioned you havenât slept well in three days.â
Ewing chuckled, a bit embarrassed. âI have told them not to say anything, but you still found out.â
Sophie tugged at Kallieâs clothes and jumped up, eager to speak on the phone.
Kallie understood her daughterâs intent. She knelt and held the phone to Sophieâs ear.
âUncle,â Sophie said sweetly.
Ewingâs heart melted. âDo you miss me, Sophie?â
âYes,â Sophie replied, nodding earnestly. âMommy misses you too.â
Kallieâs eyes sparkled as she suggested to Sophie, âLetâs go home now and visit your uncle, shall we?â
Upon returning to the Nixon family estate, Kallie found the servants packing her things.
Kallie had informed Ewing of her plan to return to Avalon.
Even though Ewing was hesitant, he respected her decision. He was considerate and had planned everything for her. He knew Kallie might linger in Avalon for a long time.
Even though Kallie insisted she didnât need much luggage, Ewing still had the servants pack everything she might need.
Under Ewingâs arrangement, some of Kallieâs luggage had already been checked in. Kallie had little to stress about; her only task was to ensure Sophieâs safety by her side.
Kallie was moved by Ewingâs thoughtfulness. With Sophie in her arms, Kallie entered her room. Just then, Trent approached her. âMiss, youâre back at last. Iâve been searching everywhere for you.â
âWhatâs the matter?â Kallie raised an eyebrow.
Clearing his throat, Trent explained, âItâs Mrs. Jennifer Nixon and Mrs. Astrid Nixon. Theyâre eager to see you, and Mr. Tyrone Nixonâs with them. They seem to have something important to discuss.â
At this, Kallieâs expression turned into a frown. The last thing she wanted was to deal with Jennifer and Astrid, especially not both at once. Her gut told her not to meet them.
