Chapter 357
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

During the period of her coma, Kallieâs mind still functioned, replaying the car incident repeatedly. She had reached a troubling conclusion. Stan must have had something to do with the incident, but he wasnât the perpetrator. After all, the police would surely determine who had tampered with the carâs brakes. It would be foolish of Stan to leave such an obvious trail.
Suddenly, Kallie grasped Lizaâs hand firmly. âLiza, you need to go to the police station right now and withdraw the complaint. Tell them to drop the investigation and declare it an accident.â
Liza looked at Kallie in disbelief. âWhat are you thinking? He tried to kill you!â
Kallie let out a wry laugh. âBelieve it or not, even with the police involved, Stan wonât face any consequences.â
Bribing someone to take the blame with a significant amount of money wasnât difficult.
Liza understood, but her frustration was palpable. âI just canât stand the thought of him getting away with it.â
Kallieâs gaze was icy and resolute. âWe have plenty of time, Liza. Thereâs no need to rush. Could you please take me to meet my savior?â
Kallie didnât suffer much from the car crash, and after advising her on a few precautions, the nurse allowed her to leave the bed.
However, as Kallie approached the door, she was halted. âWhat are you doing here?â Lenny demanded, blocking the doorway, his gaze piercing through Kallie as though she were a foe. âMy master needs his rest. If you truly care about him, youâll stay away. Do you realize that ever since my master met you, heâs been either hurt or indebted because of you? You should keep your distance.â
Liza bristled at his words, her displeasure evident. With a sneer, she seized Lenny by the collar of his shirt. âOut of my way, boy!â
Lenny struggled but soon realized the formidable strength Liza possessed, his face flushing a deep red. âYou! Get out of my way. Donât cry when I hit you!â
Kallie watched the confrontation silently, her gaze fixed on the closed door. After a moment, she spoke. âLiza, letâs go.â
Reluctantly, Liza released Lenny. As she and Kallie turned to leave, she huffed, âMr. Jack is decent and competent. He keeps his emotions in check, something you might benefit from learning. I fail to see why he keeps you around.â
Lenny retorted through clenched teeth, anger simmering, âDonât force me to strike you away. Just go. I canât stand the sight of you.â
âLenny!â Suddenly, a voice called out from within the room.
Lennyâs arrogance deflated instantly. âSir, Iâm here.â He approached the ward door and nudged it open, but only just a sliver.
Liza, unable to hold back her frustration, snickered and whispered to Kallie, âLook at him. Ass in the lionâs skin.â
Kallie sighed in resignation. âThen why let him get to you?â
Liza bowed her head, murmuring, âIt wonât happen again.â
