Chapter 362
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Errolâs expression darkened briefly before he shook his head. âShe knows Iâm swamped with work. She understands. Besides, you rarely visit the auction house in Avalon. I wouldnât trust my staff to attend to you properly in my absence.â
Kallie saw through Errolâs motives. A sudden headache gripped her as she recognized his unrelenting affection for her, despite her clear refusals and his current engagement.
âI wonât take no for an answer,â Kallie stated firmly. âWhat? Are you going to disobey my order?â
Struggling for words, Errol finally said, âThank you for your concern.â
With the auction about to commence, Errol exited the No. 1 private room, leaving Kallie to her thoughts.
At that moment, through the ajar door of the No. 2 private room, Errolâs fiancée caught sight of Errol exiting the No. 1 private room. Her jaw clenched in frustration. Her eyes blazed with fury, and her voice was icy.
âI knew it. Errol deliberately kept me out of that room since he saved it for that bitch.â
âHave you found the person I asked you to look for?â she asked the butler.
The butler gave a nod, bowing slightly. âEverything is in place. Rest assured, starting today, that womanâs reputation will crumble.â
A sinister smile spread across Errolâs fiancéeâs face, softening her features momentarily.
âKeep up the good work. If you continue to serve me after I marry into the Payne family, youâll be well rewarded.â
Overjoyed, the butler nodded vigorously.
As the auction commenced, the opening bids of the first few items were modest, and the room lacked enthusiastic bidders, with everyone concealing their true intent.
Errol had strategically placed the Reeves family in the private room directly across from the No. 1 private room. From her position, Kallie had a clear view of the No. 4 private room.
The occupant of that room was an acquaintance, none other than Melinda. Kallie was surprised that Melinda still stayed with the Reeves family after all these years. Melindaâs attire suggested she was thriving. However, it struck Kallie as odd that Dean wasnât with Melinda.
It wasnât long before Melinda sensed that something was amiss. She paused and then asked with a frown, âWhatâs going on? Didnât you mention this was the premier auction house in Burmoos? It seems pretty average to me. Are you sure your information is accurate? Is this really the place where the item Iâm interested in will be auctioned?â
The man beside her quickly responded, âI got this tip from the black market in Yaeloth. Thereâs no way Iâm wrong.â
With no other option, Melinda resigned herself to wait, her anxiety barely contained.
At this point, the Reeves family was under Stanâs sole control. Dean had become a shadow of himself, a puppet stripped of any real authority. Melinda needed to validate her worth now more than ever.
