Chapter 404
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Stan went silent on the other end of the phone. Then, he said with a sneer, âWeâll see who people believe: me or you. After all the bad things youâve doneâ¦â
Deanâs face drained of color. He slumped to the floor, defeated. He was finished. If he had known this was how it would end, he would have never helped Stan take down Jake. Now Stan was in control. No one in the Reeves family could stand up to him.
Dean couldnât accept it. He was the eldest son of the Reeves family. Why wasnât he the one inheriting everything? Why? It wasnât fair!
Jake gazed at Dean coldly. Dean was in a real mess, but he hadnât had enough fun yet. If Dean was out of the picture, who would be left to challenge Stan?
Jake cleared his throat and said into the phone, âMr. Reeves, Iâm not sure thatâs the best move. Yeah, Dean has screwed up, but heâs still your older brother. You donât want people talking behind your back, do you? First, you take his place, and now you want to kick him out completely? And letâs not forget, you werenât supposed to inherit anything in the first place. If you hadnât forced Dean to give up his claim, you wouldnât even be allowed in the Reeves family house.â
Stan shook with rage. âWho the hell are you? Stop talking!â
âYou can confirm whether I talked nonsense or not. It depends on whether you dare take the risk,â Jake replied flatly.
Honestly, at that moment, Stan had a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Jack might actually be Jake. But he soon dismissed that thought. Jake was dead. There was no way Mr. Jack could be Jake.
Stan rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. âHow do you know so much about the Reeves?â he asked, his voice laced with suspicion.
âThereâs nothing I donât know,â Jake said with a small smile. âMr. Reeves, you havenât seen everything I can do. If you donât believe me, we can test it out. All I want is a sincere apology from the Reeves family. If you canât do that, Iâll have to take matters into my own hands.â
Stan caved. He yelled at the bodyguards to bring Dean back and then tried to suck up to Jake. âMr. Jack, if you want anything, just say the word. Weâll do our best to make it happen. Donât worry. Iâll make sure no one in Burmoos messes with your goddaughter ever again.â
Jake smiled. âThatâs not necessary. Weâre not in a rush for compensation. We can talk about it when sheâs older. Oh, my memoryâs not greatâI almost forgot that the Reeves family is going downhill. Hope youâre still around in Burmoos when my goddaughter grows up.â
âThanks for the kind words, Jack,â Stan said through clenched teeth.
Stan hung up and threw his phone at the wall in a fit of rage. âDeanâs useless! Heâs nothing but trouble!â
Jake left with Sophie, but not before Dean and his family paid.
Jake made Deanâs family kneel in a line at the door, bowing to everyone who walked by. After a day of that, they were completely humiliated. Deanâs son was required to withdraw from that kindergarten.
By the time Kallie heard and got there, it was all finished.
Sophie was in Jakeâs arms, playing with his mask and giggling.
Kallie was shocked and a little jealous. âYou two got close quickly.â
