Chapter 440
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

After Kallie sobered up from the drug, she discovered that Lenny had vanished. Though curious about Lennyâs whereabouts, she chose not to inquire since he hadnât been kind to her.
Seeing Lenny standing beside Anna, Kallie let out a sigh of relief. It meant they must have known each other for quite some time.
Stan, beaming, practically rushed to Anna, eager to make a favorable impression. âYou must be the legendary Anna Watts,â he gushed, extending his hand. âYouâre even more beautiful and gracious than you appear on television. Iâm Stan, the head of the Reeves family. We exchanged a few messages online.â
Anna paused, her gaze cool as she assessed Stan. A polite, distant smile touched her lips, but she made no move to shake his hand. âHello, Mr. Reeves,â she replied, her voice as cool as her demeanor.
Without another word, Anna brushed past Stan, leaving him standing there, his hand awkwardly extended, his face a mask of embarrassment.
Stanâs smile faltered for a split second, but he quickly recovered, his voice booming through the room. âMiss Watts, you might not be aware, but thereâs an imposter here, pretending to be your brother and his girlfriend. Theyâre not only deceiving everyone but also trying to wiggle out of a murder charge! I hope you can expose them. Otherwise, your brotherâs reputation will be dragged through the mud when this gets out.â
Anna approached Jake, shooting him a complex look, remaining silent in the face of Stanâs accusations. But that look was enough to set the crowd buzzing.
People started murmuring, their voices rising in a crescendo of speculation.
âOh my god, is he really a fake?â
âI heard this guyâs actually Jake, the one who killed his own mother years ago and then skipped town!â
âSomeone like him deserves to rot in jail. Why havenât the cops arrested him yet?â
âHe and Kallie are perfect for each other. A pair of cold-blooded killers.â
Stan soaked up the accusations, his chin held high as he glared at Jake.

Jake met Stanâs gaze, cold and unyielding. âFor one, Iâm not the Jake youâre looking for. And two, you think you can demand that I kneel before you? I donât think you have the authority for that.â
Stan sputtered, unable to form a coherent response.
Anna took a deep breath and then casually looped her arm through Jakeâs, her voice laced with concern. âWhy didnât you tell me you were back and in trouble? If Lenny hadnât said anything, Iâd be in the dark. These people are out of line, questioning your identity like this. Someoneâs even trying to turn me against you. I wonder what their game is.â
Her last sentence hung in the air, heavy with unspoken accusation.
Stanâs smile vanished. He shook his head, stunned. âIs he really your brother? But how?â
Even with the mask obscuring Jakeâs face, it was clear he was young, maybe in his late twenties. He looked nothing like someone in his forties.
Annaâs gaze swept over the room, cold and dismissive. Their doubtful expressions didnât faze her. âI donât need to prove anything to any of you,â she said calmly. âThis is my brother, Mr. Jack. Should we get a DNA test right now to confirm it?â
