Chapter 457
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Her acting instincts kicked in, and Jenny choked with sobs. âI canât grasp it. All I want is justice for the wrongdoing. Why do they get to continue their operations?
Plagiarism, exploitation of their workers, and using their influence to bully others. If I keep silent, who will have the courage to speak up? Iâm trying to do what others are too afraid to. What did I do to deserve this?â
The online comments were a mix of support for Jenny and disparaging remarks about the Turner Group. Jenny glanced at Kallie, searching for some reaction, but found Kallie still as a statue, her face unreadable. A flicker of anger passed through Jennyâs eyes. Jenny turned her phone screen toward Kallie and Sophie. Kallie quickly moved to shield Sophieâs face.
Through her tears, Jennyâs voice wavered with indignation. âThe new president of that company? Sheâs a woman, a mother. I thought she would be compassionate. But no, she chose to humiliate me. How can one woman treat another so poorly?â
Kallieâs eyes sparked with fury as she retorted sharply, âWho has ever behaved so disgracefully? Pointing a camera at someone else without hesitation? Who really wants to use their power to bully others?â
Jenny clarified her actions, stating, âHad you not gone too far, I wouldnât have reacted this way.â
Facing the camera calmly, Kallie responded, âLetâs clear the air. Today, I met Miss Patterson intending only to have a calm discussion about why she didnât let us go. Right off the bat, she declined any advantages we might offer and refused to drop her complaint, urging us to abandon the idea. All I did was assure her that there were no bribes or hacks involved.â
Kallie paused before adding, âThen she got angry, accusing me of insulting her. But did I? Did I really insult her?â
Jennyâs expression stiffened. She shot back, âThatâs not how it happened. You told me to wait, and then you demanded that if I stayed in Halstead, I must kneel and apologize to you.â
With a slow nod, Kallie remarked, âIs that so? Itâs unfortunate then that this room is under surveillance. Keep lying. Iâll just have to get the manager to pull the surveillance footage to clear my name.â
Upon hearing this, Jenny was caught off guard. Realizing her blunder, Jenny quickly ended the live stream, her face a mask of guilt.
Kallie, slightly amused, stood up and walked over, patting Jenny on the shoulder. âI was bluffing. Thereâs no camera here, Miss Patterson. Isnât it telling how guilty you seem now?â
Disturbed, Jennyâs features twisted slightly. âAre you trying to provoke me?â
Kallie spoke in a measured tone. âDonât mind me. Anyway, the company has become like this. You know well that Iâm not short of money. If the company canât be saved, we might as well shut it down. I donât need such a company either.â
Jenny clenched her teeth, anger mixing with defiance in her eyes.
Kallie continued, âThe reason I wanted to meet today was to inform you that I am going to officially take legal action against you. Youâve been spreading rumors and tarnishing my companyâs reputation through public opinion.â
Jennyâs eyes widened in disbelief. âYouâre going to sue?â
âYeah.â Kallie nodded, a smile flickering across her face. âBut donât worry. I wonât bother you in the days to come. Iâll see you in court.â
With that, Kallie took Sophieâs hand and walked away. Watching Kallieâs retreating figure, Jenny felt a surge of panic she had never experienced before, resentment burning within her. âBitch!â she exclaimed, unable to contain her fury.
