Chapter 483
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

âYou claim you were here to meet a client, but shouldnât you know your clientâs name and what they look like beforehand? Didnât it strike you that this wasnât the person you were supposed to meet?â Jenny questioned, her voice filled with frustration.
Caught off guard, Kallie was at a loss for words. Lately, she had been so overwhelmed that she hadnât noticed a thing. The director had merely informed her that the other party wished to remain anonymous until they met face-to-face. This was why she had chosen to reserve this particular room.
As Kallie remained silent, Jenny felt like she had caught Kallieâs weakness and smirked victoriously. âKallie, if youâve messed up, just own up to it. Iâll give you a chance to make things right, but you need to apologize to both me and my fan.â
The man next to Jenny nodded eagerly. âExactly, apologize to us. My reputation would have been destroyed if Jenny hadnât shown up when she did.â
âWhy should I apologize?â Kallie retorted, her voice steady. âThe front desk and security are on their way. Itâll soon be clear whoâs in the wrong.â
Kallie remained composed while Jenny and the man exchanged glances. Without warning, the man seized Kallieâs wrist and pulled her toward the room. âFine. Letâs wait for them. But youâre not getting away. Weâre going to settle this today. Come inside and explain yourself.â
Jenny shoved Kallie forward, adding, âIf youâre innocent, prove it. Come in and lay it all out.â
Kallie panicked and struggled. She wasnât naive; she knew the implications of being forcibly taken into the room. She couldnât clarify things right then. However, the two of them, one in front and one behind, tried to push Kallie in forcefully.
âWhatâs going on?â At that moment, a cold male voice pierced the crowd from behind.
With every step closer, a familiar chill and aura of authority washed over them. Jenny instinctively turned around, her eyes widening in surprise. She hadnât expected to encounter Jake here.
Jennyâs mind raced. Had Jake seen her live broadcast yesterday and decided to show up intentionally? It seemed likely. Jakeâs peculiar personality meant he probably regretted sending her away previously. As she entertained this thought, she relaxed her hold.
Seizing the moment, Kallie managed to break free from the two. Jake rushed over to them.
Jenny quickly approached him, beaming, âHey, you made it!â But Jake didnât stop. He just walked right past Jenny.
Jake rushed over to Kallie and took her hand gently. Despite wearing a mask, his eyes betrayed his concern. âAre you okay? Sorry. This is my fault. I shouldnât have been late. Please donât be mad. Go ahead and scold me. Just donât shut me out.â
Kallie pulled her hand away and scoffed. âMr. Jack, havenât you noticed? Miss Patterson seems eager to catch up with you. Iâll leave you to it.â
gαâηÏνððsâ¤com, home to unforgettable stories Jake quickly grabbed Kallieâs hand, stopping her. Always mindful of his words around her, he said carefully, âKallie, something held me up. I apologize. And Miss Patterson, you said? Who is she, exactly? I donât recall.â
At his words, Jennyâs stance faltered, and she swayed slightly. Her face drained of color, yet she persisted, stepping closer. âSir, itâs me. Youâre the one who rescued me the other day. You brought me into your home. You should know who I am. Did Miss Nixon speak ill of me to you? Iâve been curious about why you drove me off that day.â
Jennyâs misleading words confused her audience in the live broadcast.
