Chapter 515
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Kallieâs expression changed when she saw Errol. Her anxiety deepened when she noticed Jake standing beside him. She had no idea how much either of them had overheard. Jakeâs eyes, shadowed by his mask, seemed to hold a deeper meaning as they met Kallieâs.
Feeling a surge of panic, Kallie tightened her grip on the report she was holding, an overwhelming urge to escape bubbling up inside her. Errolâs eyes flashed with frustration as he turned to Sarah, who seemed utterly defiant. His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. âHave you already forgotten what you promised me? Besides, youâre pregnant now, about to become a mother. Canât you at least try to speak nicely?â
Tears welled in Sarahâs eyes. She bit her lower lip and was on the verge of breaking down at any moment. Putting on a facade of innocence, as though she were the wronged party, Sarah exclaimed, âBut Iâm telling the truth! Arenât you surprised that Kallieâs pregnant? Why are you defending her? Is she having your child?â She hissed, her voice low enough that even those closest could barely hear.
Kallie could hardly tear her gaze away from Jake, who remained silent, his eyes obscured behind his mask. Kallie couldnât decipher his thoughts.
Errolâs anger flared. âLet me make this clear. If you keep this up, Iâll have you sent away immediately. I may owe you my life, but that doesnât mean you can manipulate me or act however you please. Donât test my patience any further.â
Upon hearing his words, Sarahâs defiance crumbled. She lowered her head and shrank back, fear evident in her posture. After handling Sarah, Errol turned to Kallie and Jake with a strained smile. âI apologize. My wifeâs pregnant, and her hormones⦠theyâre all over the place. Itâs been making her moods unpredictable. Furthermore, the baby isnât in the best health, which only intensifies her distress. Sheâs made mistakes, and I apologize for any hard feelings she caused. If thereâs a problem, hold me accountable.â
Kallie was astonished to learn that Sarah was carrying Errolâs child. She had known Errol was forced to marry Sarah for reasons unknown, but she had never imagined they would have a baby together. From the look on Errolâs troubled face, it was clear that fatherhood was not what he had hoped for. Kallie knew it wasnât her business, and she had no intention of getting involved.
As Errol led Sarah away, she shot one last glance over her shoulder at Kallie. She looked at Kallieâs belly, her eyes cold and filled with malice, like a predator sizing up its prey. A shiver ran down Kallieâs spine.
With Sarah gone, only Kallie and Jake remained. Kallieâs face showed a mix of emotions as she looked at Jake. âWhat are you doing here with Errol?â
Jake replied honestly, âI went to your house, but Sophie told me you werenât home. Then, Trent mentioned you werenât feeling well and had gone to the hospital. I came here because I was worried about you. I happened to run into Errol at the entrance.â
Kallie tightened her grip on the report in her hand. âDid you hear everything?â
Jake grinned and replied, âIf you donât want me listening in, I promise I wonâtâ¦â
