Chapter 529
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

If it was just herself, Kallie wouldnât mind this arrangement. But she had to consider Sophie. What if Saniya did something bad? Kallieâs concern for Sophie deepened as she contemplated whether she should ask Jake to take Sophie elsewhere.
In a surprising move, Saniya approached Kallie, her expression tense as she spoke with forced politeness. âMiss Nixon, I hope we can manage to coexist peacefully,â Saniya said, her voice tight. âI understand youâre not thrilled about sharing a room with me either, but it seems weâre stuck with each other for the week. Letâs not dwell on whatâs happened. Iâm willing to overlook past grievances, and I expect that you and your daughter will not stir up any trouble, so we can all have a peaceful stay.â
Kallie felt an even stronger urge to send Sophie away. Saniyaâs words, appearing to smooth things over, only heightened her defensiveness. Was Saniya implying they were the ones who would cause trouble? Didnât Saniya start bothering her and Sophie first?
As the room buzzed with quiet conversations, several voices chimed in admiration of Saniyaâs apparent open-mindedness.
âTo be honest, Iâve never seen anyone as forgiving as Saniya. She really is the epitome of tolerance.â
âThatâs true. Yet, Iâm really concerned for her. That nasty mother-daughter duo could take advantage of her away from the cameras.â
âNo way. The showâs staff would never allow that.â
âYouâre too naive! Kallie paid a hefty sum to get on this program. She wasnât even supposed to be here initially. Now suddenly sheâs on the list. Makes you wonder, doesnât it?â
Kallie was at a loss for words, unable to counter the last comment. She hadnât originally intended to join the show but had changed her mind for Elaineâs sake. With a forced smile, Kallie reached out and grasped Saniyaâs hand, though her frustration was evident. âHow could we possibly cause trouble? My daughter and I hate complications. Besides, there are two beds in our room: a large one and a smaller one. Youâre welcome to the larger one. If it makes you more comfortable, I can even hang a curtain between them. And if youâre not fond of children, Iâll make sure Sophie doesnât bother you. Donât worry. We wonât intrude on your space.â
Saniya was taken aback by Kallieâs sudden graciousness and shook her head quickly. âOh, no, you should take the larger bed since you have your daughter with you. Itâs only right.â
Kallie immediately replied, âIf I arrange it this way, rumors might spread that weâve hogged the big bed and forced you into the smaller one. Then weâd have a hard time clearing the air.â
This candid admission from Kallie brought a sudden silence over the group, creating an awkward stillness. Saniya was on the verge of speaking when suddenly, tears streamed down her face. âMiss Nixon, you canât just paint me as a villain like this.â
Elaine moved to comfort Saniya, shooting occasional glares at Kallie. âMiss Nixon, why must you be so harsh? Saniya truly wants to get along with you.â
Kallieâs laughter cut through the tension. Her beauty was undeniable, and her smile turned those around her into mere backdrops. âHow can you say that? Miss Mason and I have no issues. It was all just messing around. I didnât think sheâd start crying so easily. Itâs on me. I shouldâve held back. Today, I saw her joking with my daughter, pretending to stumble and claiming my daughter pushed her. I assumed she was up for such playful banter.â
