Chapter 553
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Kallie reached for Elaineâs hand firmly. âI originally gave you the necklace as part of a plan to get close to you.
But now, I truly appreciate what youâve done. You have my deepest gratitude. From now on, consider me at your service. Whatever you need, Iâm here for you.â
Elaine stared at Kallie, confusion etched across her face. âWhy are you deliberately getting close to me?â Kallieâs smile waned, replaced by a somber expression as she chose to reveal the truth. âItâs concerning your sister. Thereâs an aspect of my life youâre unaware of. My cousin is Ewing, the head of the Nixon family.â
Shock washed over Elaine, quickly clouded by a surge of anger.
âI had taken you for a decent person. I didnât think youâd advocate for such a vile man. Kallie, that doesnât seem like something you would do. If you promise never to bring up Ewing in front of me again, Iâll act like this never happened.â
Kallie shook her head gently, her tone sincere. âIâm not in his corner. The situation between him and your sister is theirs to resolve. Itâs not my place to pass judgment. But listen, Iâm here to assist you. Honestly, my only wish is to help you find your sister.â
Elaine regarded Kallie with a mix of skepticism and curiosity. âHow on earth did you find out sheâs missing?â Kallie sidestepped the query. âWe should save that conversation for later.
Youâve just woken up and need to recuperate. Tonight, Debbie and I will ensure youâre taken care of. Donât fret. Youâre in safe hands.â
Elaine, drained, chose not to delve deeper and rolled over to sleep.
Outside the room, Kallie quietly made a call to Ewing.
âI talked with Saniya. She knows where to find Evita Webster, but sheâs laid out some conditions. If we donât comply, she wonât divulge anything.â
Ewing appeared even more worn on the other end of the phone. âI got it wrong about Elaine. I assumed she was covering for her sister. I never imagined Evita would be kidnapped. This is on me. Had I not invited her out that evening, she wouldnât be in this mess.â
Kallieâs heart went out to him. âEwing, try to rest. Weâll sort everything out.â
Ewing nodded, managing a weary smile. âI know. Butâ¦â His voice trailed off, his expression growing more strained.
âI regret dragging you into this. If you hadnât joined the show, you wouldnât be facing these issues now. I canât help but shiver with regret when I think about what could have happened to Sophie.â
Kallie felt a residual fear as well, but thankfully, that scenario hadnât unfolded, and Sophie was safe. âEwing, itâs alright. Sophie wouldnât want to see you like this. You handle the Nixon family. Iâll track down Evita,â she assured him.
âElaine had saved Sophieâs life, and because of that, I felt obligated to accommodate any request from Saniya. I was determined to ensure Elaineâs sister was returned safely.â
