Chapter 645
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

The butler beamed, nudging his nephew.
But the nephewâs face had gone pale, sweat beading on his forehead.
âWhatâs wrong with you?â the butler hissed at him. âMiss Morganâs offering to help! Take it and hurry up! She doesnât usually get involved in this kind of stuff.â
Cara lifted her chin, looking down at the butler. âIâm only doing this because youâve been loyal to the Morgan family. Now hurry up. I need to get home with Jake.â
Jake suddenly burst out laughing. He stepped forward, stopping in front of the butlerâs nephew. The nephew practically vibrated with fear.
âDonât bother looking for them. The guy in question, the one who disrespected the Morgan family, is me. Got a problem with that?â Jake said. âHe was harassing a woman at the bar. I wasnât just going to stand there and watch.â
There was an immediate, deafening silence.
Caraâs smile vanished. She couldnât believe her ears.
The butler snapped out of it first. He whacked his nephew upside the head. âYou idiot! What the hell have you done?â
The nephew practically vibrated with fear. âI didnât know it was himâ¦â he stammered.
Caraâs chest heaved with fury. âSo, the woman you risked your neck for was the one he was harassing?â she shrieked. âWhy the hell do you care so much about that woman, Jake?â
Jake raised an eyebrow, not giving a damn about what Cara thought. âSo what?â he retorted.
Cara was seeing red. How dare Jake say that? He was humiliating her, making her look like a fool in front of everyone. It was like he wanted the whole world to know she meant nothing to him.
Cara exploded. She slapped the nephew hard across the face, her anger boiling over. âWhy the hell were you harassing that woman? Are you insane?â she screamed.
The butler was shaking like a leaf. He tried to calm Cara down, but she slapped him too.
Cara lashed out, hitting and kicking them both. Jake just gave them a cold, hard look. Then, he got in the car and told the driver to get moving.
The driver hesitated, glancing at Cara, who was still going ballistic outside.
âJust drive!â Jake growled. âDonât worry about her. Sheâs a Morgan. Someone will take her home.â He was just going back to the Morgan family as she wished, after all. She couldnât complain about that.
The whole scene left Cara feeling even more humiliated and furious.
Everyone in the Morgan family knew Cara had a nasty temper and liked to throw her weight around. The butler and his nephew were on the receiving end of her wrath, but they didnât dare say a word.
By the time the car pulled away, Cara was worn out from all the hitting. She felt like bursting into tears.
Yet, Cara blinked back the tears stinging her eyes. She refused to let them fall, not in front of these people.
The bitterness in her heart was a suffocating weight, but she swallowed it down. She wasnât ready to give up on Jake, not after all this time.
The thought of losing everything, of ending up with nothing, was unbearable. Sheâd fought tooth and nail for years to get where she was.
