Chapter 658
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

The butler fumbled for the right words. âSheâs attractive, Miss, but nowhere near your beauty.â
Cara instantly understood the butlerâs meaning and typed, âIn that case, donât bother showing me her photos. Make sure sheâs dealt with, though. Since sheâs pretty, donât let her go to waste. You know what I mean.â
âWeâll take care of it.â
With a yawn, Cara gave her instructions. âGood. I expect to hear the results tomorrow. I have plans tonight, so donât disturb me.â
Just after Cara sent the message, Jake entered the room. Dressed in a sharp suit, Jake looked more dashing than ever, his aloofness unmistakable. Yet, to Cara, his icy demeanor only enhanced his allure, sparking her desire to conquer him.
Caraâs eyes lit up with adoration, eager to make Jake her husband and completely smitten with him. However, Jake barely glanced her way upon entering.
Not disheartened, Cara flashed him a sweet smile. âItâs so noisy outside. Would you mind joining us here for some fun and quiet?â
Jakeâs tone was somewhat frosty. âStaying here with the same crowd isnât thrilling. I prefer to immerse myself in the local festivities.â
Cara maintained her composure. âThatâs fine. Iâll find you later with Elma. When I locate you, Iâll send Elma back.â
Jakeâs patience snapped. His icy eyes locked onto her, and his voice became low and dangerous. âDo you enjoy using Elma to manipulate me?â
Cara blinked, her expression laced with hurt. âIf you werenât so cold and unwilling to talk to me, I wouldnât have had to do this. If you treated me better, Iâd be kinder to Elma.â
In a sudden flash of anger, Jake grabbed Caraâs throat, his grip firm but controlled. âDonât think you can use being her mother to control me. If you push me to the edge, youâll regret it!â
Fear flickered in Caraâs eyes, but she held her ground. âIâm not pushing or trying to control you. I only want us to be happy together as a family. If you refuse to let that happen, I have no choice but to use these tactics.â
Jake tightened his grip on Caraâs throat, frustration radiating from him. He couldnât quite grasp why he felt such intense disdain for her. He even grew irritated by the simple fact that they were standing in the same place.
Normally, Jake wasnât the type to be easily angered. Although he was cold, he wasnât unpredictable. However, every time he saw Cara, an unshakable irritation stirred within him. He doubted he had ever been with her, let alone fathered a child before losing his memory.
Jakeâs doubts had grown so strong that he secretly took a paternity test with Elma. The results confirmed Elma was his daughter, but it hadnât lessened his loathing for Cara.
Just then, the door burst open. Clayton walked in, his face a mixture of shock and anger at the sight. He rushed over, breaking Jakeâs grip and pulling Cara away. âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â
âAre you trying to kill her?â Now in Claytonâs arms and coughing from Jakeâs chokehold, Cara still only had eyes for Jake.
âClayton, donât blame him. Heâll be upset by your words.â
