Chapter 685
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Caraâs fury peaked, and she delivered a stinging slap to Keely. âYou refuse to talk, huh? Fine, Iâll make sure you do!â
Terrified, Keely crumpled to the floor, overwhelmed by fear. âIâll do whatever you want. Just pleaseâ¦â
Caraâs rage subsided slightly as she regarded Keely with a mix of suspicion and relief. âReally? Youâll help?â
Tears welled up in Keelyâs eyes as she nodded, regretting her decision to come and comfort Cara. But it was too late for regrets now.
Under Caraâs direct orders, Keely secretly sent Elma to a boarding school without informing Clayton and Jake.
Keely knew sheâd be in deep trouble if Clayton and Jake ever found out. Her only hope was Caraâs protection. Without it, she couldnât fathom the consequences sheâd face.
Resolute, Keely vowed to see Caraâs task through, no matter what.
Cara, changing her expression, rose to her feet and gently helped Keely stand. Her tone softened. âLook at you, acting like I scared you. Am I really that frightening? Youâve been around here for years, and I know youâre more than capable. Thatâs why Iâm giving you this responsibility.â
Cara paused for a moment, then added, âDonât worry. I wonât leave you to handle it alone. Iâll let you know when Clayton is out of the way.â
Keely forced a tight smile. âThank you.â
Cara stretched lazily, letting out a yawn before something crossed her mind. Her eyes grew colder. âHas Elma been sent off?â
Keely quickly nodded. âYes, sheâs been enrolled. Even if your brother or Mr. Reeves finds out, thereâs nothing they can do. Itâs the top school, and each student only gets one shot at admission. If she leaves now, she wonât have many options for good schools in this country.â
Caraâs lips curled into a triumphant smile. âTheyâve got no one to blame but themselves for staying in this country. Who knows what theyâre thinking? Anyway, itâs better Elma is out of the way. Now, no one will stand between me and Jake.â With a disdainful look, Cara glanced around the chaotic room. âWhy are you just standing there? Get someone in here to clean this mess. Itâs driving me crazy.â
It seemed Cara had forgotten that she was the one who caused the mess.
Keely gave a quick nod and headed out to summon some servants, who could only count themselves unfortunate.
If anything valuable had been broken, Cara would shirk any accountability. The blame would fall on those cleaning the room. None dared challenge Cara, nor did anyone have the courage to inform Clayton. After all, they remembered what had become of Betty, who had once been close to Elma.
The Simpson family extended an invitation to Kallie to celebrate Rachelâs engagement.
Though Kallie and Rachel werenât the closest of friends, they had maintained a connection over the years, and Kallie felt compelled to attend. Kallie asked if her children wished to accompany her, and they consented.
On the way, Calvin hesitated before finally confiding in Kallie about a troubling issue at school involving Elma.
