Chapter 694
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Calvin, who had been holding back, finally couldnât resist asking cautiously, âMom, my birthdayâs coming up soon. Can we invite Elma?â
Calvin was aware of the tension between Kallie and Elmaâs parents. Even though Kallie had encouraged him to befriend Elma, he wasnât sure if she would be okay with Elma coming to their house.
To Calvinâs surprise, Kallie gently patted his head. âSure, invite her. It would be great if she could come. A fun party might cheer her up a bit.â Calvinâs face lit up with joy. âAwesome! Iâll tell her tomorrow. I bet sheâll say yes!â
Calvin had been spending a lot of time with Elma lately. She wasnât as cold with him as she used to be. Even though she often seemed lost in her own thoughts, she appeared to perk up a bit whenever he was around.
Calvin happily went off to prepare.
Sophie looked up at Kallie, her heart sinking at the exhaustion etched on her face. She gave Kallieâs hand a sympathetic squeeze. âMom, you need to get some rest. Youâve had a rough day.â
Kallie smiled tiredly, pulling Sophie in for a hug and letting out a sigh.
Your favorite tales are on gαâηÏνððsâ¤Ã§Ð¾nn After learning that Elma had taken leave to return home, Calvin waited a few days for her return in vain. He thought about visiting her, but he wasnât sure if that would be crossing a line. He genuinely hoped Elma would attend his birthday party. Before, Calvin had invited Elma to have fun at his house. Although she hadnât given a definite answer, heâd seen a flicker of excitement in her eyes.
After some hesitation, Calvin decided to track down the Morgan familyâs address. He kept this mission to himself, not breathing a word to Kallie.
When Calvin arrived at the imposing gates of the Morgan family estate, the guard asked for his identification. âIâm Elmaâs classmate,â Calvin explained. âCould you let her know Iâm here? I need to talk to her about something.â
The guard eyed Calvinâs designer clothes, figuring he wasnât just some random kid. He called up the housekeeper to inform them of the visitor.
A few minutes later, a phone was handed to Calvin.
âItâs Miss Elma Morgan on the line,â the guard said.
Calvinâs face brightened as he took the phone, but before he could say a word, Elmaâs voice, young but chillingly cold, cut through the line. âCalvin, what the hell do you think youâre doing here? Leave right now, or Iâll have the guards drag you away!â Even though Calvin knew Elma could be a bit prickly, her sudden hostility took him by surprise. He wasnât angry, just confused. âElma, are you okay? When are you coming back to school?â
âWhy do you even care?â Elma snapped. âI told you to go away! Whatâs wrong with you?â
âMy birthdayâs coming up,â Calvin said. âAnd I want you to come to my party. Iâll talk to your parents. Donât worry. Wouldnât you like to come over?â
Elma went silent for a moment, and then her voice became frantic, almost panicked. âGo away! Get out of here! Are you crazy? Just be careful, or elseâ¦â
She hung up abruptly.
Calvin felt a chill. Something was definitely wrong. He quickly handed the phone back to the guard. âCan you try calling her again?â
The guard hesitated but took the phone.
Just then, a flashy red Maserati pulled up.
Calvin watched as a woman in sky-high heels stepped out and strode toward him. âDonât bother calling,â she said. âIf you want to see Elma, Iâll take you to her.â
