Chapter 736
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Kallieâs expression turned cold. âI never held you responsible for your past actions because your brotherâs kindness left a deep impression on me, and I felt indebted to you. But youâve crossed the line too many times. Why should my children suffer? You have every right to be angry with me, but my children are innocent.â
Cara sneered. âOh, I initially planned to target you directly, but that became uninteresting. I wanted to see you completely broken. Who says your children are innocent, Kallie? Their very existence is their faultâborn of you and carrying Jakeâs blood!â
Kallie was overwhelmed by a profound sadness. âRegardless, Iâve resolved to keep my kids from acknowledging Jake as their father. Theyâve distanced themselves from him and wonât claim his estate. They pose no threat to your plans. If you doubt me, Iâm willing to make a sworn statement.â
Caraâs tone was mocking. âOh, stop pretending. You think Iâm clueless? Youâve been seeing Jake behind my back for a long time. Otherwise, why does he always sneak around just to see you? Werenât you the one who provoked me last time? I may not have Jake, but donât expect your life to be peaceful.â
Kallieâs voice grew icy. âIf you donât release Sophie, I will be forced to act. This time, not even your brotherâs favor will hold me back. If Sophie is harmed, I wonât rest until one of us is destroyed.â
Cara, unfazed and almost eager, retorted, âFine, Iâll be waiting.â With those words, she ended the call.
Kallie turned to Calvin.
Fortunately, at that moment, Calvin had successfully traced Caraâs location. Cara wasnât with the Morgan family; instead, she was up in the mountains on the outskirts.
Kallie, troubled by this, couldnât help but ask, âDo you have any idea where your sister might be?â
Calvin shook his head in frustration. âEven if her phoneâs off, it should still emit some signal, but Iâm getting nothing. Maybe they tossed her phone into the water or smashed it. Mom, shouldnât we gather a group and head there now? We might still intercept them.â
Kallie shook her head, feeling a chill creeping over her hands and feet, her thoughts in disarray. Yet, she managed to regain some semblance of calm. âItâs pointless. Caraâs actions are unpredictable, and sheâs completely lost control. If we charge in now, it will only tip her off and provoke something even more drastic.â Her expression firmed as she made a decision. âI need to track down Jake now.â It seemed Caraâs erratic behavior stemmed from Jakeâs absence.
Indeed, Cara, who had earlier gloated over unsettling Kallie, was now seething with rage upon learning that her men had lost track of Jake. âYouâre all fools! How do you lose track of someone? If thereâs no update in half an hour, none of you will leave here alive!â
Her men were at their breaking point. They couldnât fathom the tricks Jake used. Every time he disappeared, they were left with not even a trace of him.
They often managed to locate Jake only when he decided to return of his own accord. Unbeknownst to Jake, Cara had already uncovered the plot he had devised with Clayton.
Before Jake left, he assured Cara that he had urgent business to attend to and promised to take her to the island for their wedding celebration once he returned. After his departure, Cara found herself at a loss as to how to locate him. Ten minutes later, Keely arrived with Sophie and Elma. Sophie was blindfolded. The sound of Caraâs voice made her shudder.
Cara moved slowly toward Sophie, pinched her cheek, and said with chilling calmness, âYour face annoys me. Youâre becoming more and more like your despicable mother every day.â
