Chapter 893
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

âWhat are you trying to say?â
âOh, I mean no offense,â Lacey replied, her tone one of harmless curiosity.
âThereâs talk. Thatâs all. People wonder about your motives. Iâd suggest just focusing on being kind and generous. Misdeeds rarely lead to joy.â
Kallie had always sensed Laceyâs strangeness from their first meeting and chose not to engage further.
As Kallie continued on her way, a disturbance broke out nearby. Sophie rushed over, tears streaming down her face.
âMom, I need you here now. Somethingâs happened to my sister!â
The words sent Kallie into a sudden wave of panic, her eyes widening in alarm.
Elma had been excitedly celebrating Sophieâs birthday. She was playing games with the other children when she suddenly started coughing uncontrollably. Her coughing worsened, and soon she was struggling to breathe. She clutched at her chest and collapsed to the floor, her face pale and lifeless.
Kallie rushed over, her heart sinking at the sight of Elmaâs distress. She immediately called for an ambulance, but they were far from the city, and it was unclear how long it would take for help to arrive.
Sophie, tears streaming down her face, tried to comfort her mother. âMom, donât worry,â she said. âMy brother saw that Elma was sick and went to call the family doctor. The doctor should be here soon.â
âWe need to do something to help her,â Kallie said, trying to stay calm. She squeezed Sophieâs hand tightly. Not knowing Elmaâs condition, Kallie hesitated to move her.
Suddenly, a womanâs voice rang out. âEveryone, step aside.â
It was Lacey. Her face was grim as she looked at the crowd. âWhat are you all doing just standing there? Canât you see she canât breathe? Please move aside,â she demanded.
The crowd quickly moved back. As Lacey approached Elma, Kallie grabbed her arm.
âWhat are you doing?â she asked suspiciously.
Lacey turned and gave Kallie an icy stare. âI know a bit about first-aid,â she said.
âIf you want your daughter to die, then by all means, stop me. Kallie, everyone here works for you. If I were lying, wouldnât I risk my life for this? Besides, I can see whatâs wrong with her. If we wait any longer, she might not make it.â
Despite Laceyâs harsh words, Kallie released her grip on Laceyâs arm. Tears welled up in her eyes. âPlease, save my daughter,â she begged.
Lacey shot her a look and then said loudly, âGive me some space.â
Kallie nodded, and the bodyguards stepped back. She watched as Lacey took out a small bag and began inserting thin needles into Elmaâs skin.
Sophie, her voice trembling, asked, âMom, is that going to hurt Elma?â
Kallie shook her head. âItâs called acupuncture. Itâs a special kind of medicine. She should wake up soon,â she explained.
Sophie nodded, her eyes wide with curiosity. Just as Kallie had said, Elmaâs fingers twitched a few minutes later. Kallieâs heart leapt with relief at the sight of Elma stirring. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision.
âElma!â she cried out, rushing toward her daughter, but Lacey held her back.
âGive her a moment. Let her come around slowly,â Lacey stated.
