Chapter 113
Beyond the Divorce
A Dangerous Warning I knew she was up to no good, likely trying to provoke me.
I chose not to react and started the car.
She looked at me and asked, âWhatâs the matter, Chloe? Are you upset?â âWhat do you think? I feel like throwing up when I see you,â I said plainly.
âI feel the same about you!â She glared at me.
âListen carefully.
You better move out of the apartment, or youâll regret it.â I didnât even glance in her direction.
âDream on! Donât forget what happened to Henry.
I can send you to jail, too, since I have proof of everything.â She lost her composure.
âDonât push it, Chloe!â âYouâre the ones pushing it! How dare you come to my house? Do you think Iâm scared of you?â I looked straight at her.
âYouâre a slut like your real mom!â Then I added with a snort, âAre you even good enough to stay in that apartment?â âChloe, donât forget what I can do to your parents and Avalâ she said maliciously.
I stiffened, knowing well that my family was my weakness.
She and Matthew would stop at nothing to hurt me.
âIf you dare lay a finger on them, Iâll kill you!â I locked the car doors and hit the gas.
She jolted backward and yelled, âWhat the hell are you doing?â Melanie gripped the roof handle with one hand while shielding her stomach with the other.
Her eyes were full of alarm.
A cold chuckle escaped my lips.
âYou asked for this, bitch!â âYouâre out of your mind! Slow down, alright?â She looked out the window in terror as I swerved between cars.
When she frantically found her phone, I grabbed it and threw it out the window.
She screamed, âMatthew will fucking kill you if anything happens to me!â âIâll kill your unborn child before you can harm my family.
Do you think Matthew will want to leave me when I do? You want me to divorce him, donât you?â I looked at her as I drové.
âIâve changed my mind after seeing your behavior today.
Letâs see if Matthew will pick you or me! But I know you canât beat me.
You know how much your family values money, right? âIf I become the familyâs sole provider, theyâll do whatever I ask.
Maybe you werenât aware, but Grace begged me two days ago not to divorce Matt.
She even told me you were a whore, just like your birth mother!â I had never been so mean to anyone, but I got a kick out of Melanieâs helpless face.
In the end, I even said, âTell Matthew that Iâm not one to let things slide.
Itâs in his best interest not to push me too hard, okay?â âYou cunt!â She paled from fear.
When we arrived at Snow World, Melanie exited the car while visibly shaking.
Even when Matthew asked about what had happened, she simply shook her head.
