Melanie grew infuriated. âHow dare you?â
I said calmly, âYou should leave now. Weâre having a meeting.â
Then, I turned my attention to Ryan. âWhat do you have for me?â
Ryan approached and handed me the documents. I glanced at them and saw two contracts for the new development at Heartland Estates.
I was surprised. âWe got it?â
Ryan smiled. âGrayson did.â
âThatâs great! Iâve always liked this development,â I said, thrilled.
Melanie stormed out.
Ryan waited until she was gone and said, âThereâs something else.â
âWhat is it?â
âI heard that ATL Empire failed to get the land in Operose.â

âHuh? Youâre not in Foswood? Why did you let Echelon Group have that land in Operose?â
He said lazily, âWhy would you say that?â
I was stumped. âWell, theyâre throwing a celebratory party tomorrow night, and Iâve already received an invitation.â
âThen attend it,â he said calmly. âIâll bring you a gown.â
âCanât you just tell me whatâs going on? Iâm worried about you,â I protested, annoyed by his unpredictability.
âOkay, donât worry. Iâll see you at the party tomorrow,â he said soothingly.
âYouâre going too?â I asked eagerly.
âYup. Donât stop thinking about me, okay? I got to go.â He hung up.
I held my phone, bewildered. Suddenly, I started to look forward to that party.
