Chapter 229
Beyond the Divorce
Complaints âWhen did you get back?â I asked joyfully..
1âve been back for two days now,â Atlas replied flatly. Although he sounded calm, I felt disappointed. It seemed I wasnât that important to him since he could come and go without notifying me.
My mood plummeted, and I said nothing.
He continued, âYou donât need to worry about that and just focus on your work.â
âWhat do you mean?â I replied, slightly annoyed.
âDo you have time to worry about me?â he spoke forcefully, avoiding my question.
I knew he was in a bad mood, so I didnât respond. Instead, hung up, thinking he should know what it feels like for me to hang up on him, I waited a while, but he didnât call me back. I felt even more dejected.
While scrolling through my phone, I realized I hadnât seen Ivanna and Lauren for several days. I called them, but Ivannaâs line was busy. Immediately after, I called Lauren, and she answered with a complaint, You finally remembered me!â
âWhy are you like Ivanna? Youâre always complaining like her,â I retorted, and she chuckled.
Lauren said, âI hear you brought your parents back, but I havenât seen her yet. I donât even know when youâre home.â
âCanât you visit her when Iâm not home?â I replied disdainfully, which made her cackle.
Soon after, she mentioned a clubhouse where we could soak in the hot springs and enjoy good food.
She asked if I wanted to go there to relax. I hadnât experienced such leisure since I typically had a strict schedule. I was either at work or with Ava Relaxing in such a place piqued my interest, so I agreed and suggested we invite Ivanna. However, Ivannaâs phone remained busy, causing me to wonder who she could be talking to for so long.
I drove to Laurenâs provided location, which was quite far away. I didnât need to plan things since Lauren knew all about the place. As I drove, I realized the place wasnât too far from Atlasâs house in Pleca Park. No wonder there was a hot spring there.
When I arrived, I received a call from Ivanna. It seemed her lengthy conversation had finally ended. I complained, âWho have you been talking to? Itâs been almost an hour!â
âHey, I donât want to talk about it. That ladyâs a handful. Sheâs all sunshine and rainbows if you talk to her If I was complaining, she was ranting. I asked, âWho are you talking about?â
âOne of the rising stars at my company. Only a few knew about her all these years. Her acting skills are so- so, but sheâs gained popularity somehow. Thatâs how the entertainment industry works, I guess.
âYou never know what the audience will like the next moment. Anyhow, sheâs finally getting some attention.â
âIs she one of yours? If so, that should be good,â I tried to comfort her.
âIâm sure it is, and Iâve been wondering if she spent the past few years secretly studying how to become a star. Her sudden transformation is unreal-â Ivanna vented, sounding exasperated.
âAll right, calm down. Can you get off work now?â I interrupted her.
âYeah, youâre right. I need to let off steam. What is it?â Ivannaâs tone became calmer.
I told her where Lauren and I were meeting, and she happily agreed. âWait for me! Iâll see you there soon!â
After hanging up, I remembered to call my mom and tell her I wouldnât be home for dinner. I also told her I would be out with Ivanna and Lauren. I was about to get out of my car when I saw something and stopped.
