Chapter 282
Beyond the Divorce
The Perfume Is Gone Dylan turned and disappeared from the hospital room.
Finally, the doctors advised me to rest and observe. I had to tell the medical staff if I felt uncomfortable.
Then they left the room. My head was still in a whirl, and my body ached Ava wanted to come closer, but Carol held her back, soothing her, âAva, donât touch Mommy, itâll hurt!â
âMom, Dad, you should go home! I want your handmade pasta, Mom,â I murmured. âRyan, take Mom and Dad back. If everythingâs fine tomorrow, Iâll come home!â
Ryan looked at me. He had been watching from a distance, not saying a word. However, his eyes had been fixed on me, full of anxiety.
When he heard me say this, he immediately responded, âAlright, weâll go back and make you some pasta!
Weâll bring them over a little later!â
âOkay!â I smiled at him. Tm fine!
Ryan left my hospital room with Ava and my parents. Truthfully, I didnât really want pasta, but I didnât want them to worry about me knowing too much They had only left briefly when Dylan entered, his gaze somewhat disappointed as he looked at Atlas.
his head gently. âWe couldnât find that bottle of perfume. It wasnât at the scene, and it wasnât in He shook his h the car!â
Atlasâs expression grew grim, his face emanating a chilling aura. He knew that the bottle was a gift from Stella to me.
Lauren wasnât having any of it. âImpossible. At noon today, I saw that thing in Chloâs car. I even picked it up to smell it. How could it not be there?â
âChlo, think, was it in the car when the accident happened?â Ivanna was starting to get anxious.
âYes, it was there the whole time. It smelled nice. I felt so weak that I didnât have the strength to step on the gas. It was the same feeling as the last time I flipped the car in Pleca Park.â I spoke weakly, âWhen I turned out of the traffic, it was still there!â
Atlasâs eyes were filled with cold hostility. âDid you call and talk to Stella? What did she say?â
âShe said⦠that you were taking a showerâ¦â I answered his question truthfully, âAnd sheâd get up right away to tell you to call me back!â
âNonsense. Mr. Atlas has been talking with Mrs. Celine the whole time. How could he be taking a shower?
Dylan was getting a bit furious.
âFind out who approached that damaged car. Find the person who took the perfume!â Atlasâs face grew even darker.
âThis is a blatant attempt to harm Chlo!â Lauren could not keep things bottled up, and she continued, looking at Atlas. âMr. Atlas, you have to give us an explanation for this.â
Just then, Atlasâs phone rang. He turned and walked out quickly.
âDylan, how did you all find out about my accident?â I took the opportunity to ask Dylan.
Dylan looked at me and said, âThey came to see Mr. Atlas before he left work. They were discussing something. When Mr. Atlas went to get some documents, Ms. Stella told him he had a call. But by the time he answered, you had already hung up!â
I I closed my eyes for a moment, blaming myself silently for not being more composed and for being too impulsive.
âMr. Atlas handed the documents to Mrs. Celine, and they left. When Mr. Atlas tried to call you back, her couldnât get through. So, he told me to trace your location. When he noticed that you were in the same spot, he had a hunch that something had happened.â
When Dylan explained the situation, I felt a little regretful. Things would have been better if I hadnât been so rash.
Despite this, I knew deep down if it was the problem with that perfume, it was only a matter of time before I had an accident.
However, I was puzzled. How could that bottle of perfume just vanish?
Atlas returned to my bedside after his phone call, his gaze fixed on me. After a moment, he said, âRest and recover. I have some matters to attend to. Iâll be back later.â
He glanced at Ivanna and instructed them, âTake good care of her. Grayson, come with me!â
With that, they all exited my hospital room. Inside, we exchanged looks, and Lauren finally shook her head.
âitâs terrifying. Chloe, youâre incredibly lucky! Do you realize how horrific the scene was? Not a single witness believed you could survive.â
