Chapter 906 The Fear of Past Memories
Beyond the Divorce
The Fear of Past Memories I felt a little embarrassed and asked Archie, "Are you sure we donât need to give them a ride back?"
âThey live nearby," Archie said casually.
I didn't press any further.
In the car, Archie asked me, "Whenâs your flight? Is it tomorrow morning?"
"Yeah. There's a lot to handle back home. I've also invited some suppliers for an on-site meeting to finalize the materials. I canât afford to be careless. But... do you think Mr. Gordon might have a solutionâ-â
"Just let things take their course, Chloe. Don't force it. It doesnât matter if you donât remember anything. What's important is a safe and happy life ahead. Everything else is just part of lifeâs journey." His words were clearly meant to console me.
"Once youâre free, you can come back to Solaris and let him administer the acupuncture to ease your pain. Itâs important for you to take care of your health. Don't neglect it. His medical skills are unparalleled, and you can trust him."
"I trust your friends, but I'm just too impatient. I never imagined my memory loss would be like this. This is so unfair. How could they take away my right to remember?" My voice grew softer, and I felt a deep discomfort.
"No oneâs to blame here, Chloe. Itâs happened already. We just have to face things no matter who did it." Archie's tone was stern.
"I understand." I knew that my negativity was perhaps too overwhelming.
Back at home, I spent some time chatting with Archie. He reminded me of a few things, like a caring father advising his daughter. I felt increasingly at ease as I sensed more of a familial connection between us.
Winter was approaching in Solaris. I checked his wardrobe, thinking that I should get him some warm clothes next time I visited.
I couldnât help but feel that he should have a woman by his side to take care of him. But I also understood that his status didnât allow for just any woman to be by his side.
After going downstairs, Ardie joined our father-daughter team. The three of us chatted about our lives, discussing work and ongoing projects.
It was late when Archie finally urged me to go back to my room and rest, reminding me that I had to return to Foswood the next day.
That night, I slept soundly without any dreams.
Early in the morning, I got up and prepared breakfast for Dad. He was delighted and ate a lot before heading to work. Before leaving, he reminded me to come back to Solaris as soon as possible.
Ardie insisted on taking me to the airport. On the way there, he comforted me again, advising me not to dwell on unpleasant things.
He watched me as I entered the security checkpoint before leaving.
It made me feel like the affection between us as a family was becoming more pronounced.
After I landed, I saw Atlas waiting to pick me up. I rushed into his arms as soon as I came out of the exit and hugged tightly. We attracted quite a few glances, but I didnât care.
This trip to Solaris had unexpectedly uncovered many secrets, which had made things hard for me.
The discussion about my memory had caught me off guard too.
Atlas sensed that something was wrong. As he held me tight, he asked softly, "Whatâs going on? Hmm? You look so distressed. Tell me about it."
I allowed him to embrace me, wanting to quietly feel the safety he provided. At that moment, I felt that only he could give me this kind of security, even more than what I thought my parents could offer.
I couldnât understand why they had erased my memories. What had made them so afraid that I would remember the past? Was it just because they werenât my biological parents?
Just thinking about it sent shivers down my spine.
