Chapter 24 She Has a Man Behind Her

Cedric left Johnson Manor and went directly to the company. His personal assistant, Yuvan Sullivan,

entered his office.

“Mr. Johnson.”

“What have you found?” Cedric asked coldly.

‘We’ve managed to stop the news from spreading. But due to the timing, quite a few people already

know,” Yuvan replied, referring to the reports about the divorce.

The company had acted quickly to suppress the news. But despite all reports being taken down, the

whole of Verde City was still buzzing.

Cedric furrowed his brows and rubbed his aching temples. “Have they found her?”

Night had fallen. Since the media had bombarded the entire city, he had been unable to contact

Natalie. He had to mobilize his team to locate her. He initially believed she was merely out shopping

like before, but he hadn’t received a single transaction message on his phone all afternoon.

What frustrated him even more was Yuvan’s response of “We don’t have any news about Mrs.

Johnson.”

Cedric closed his eyes. The atmosphere in the office became heavy.

“Find her quickly. Although public opinion has shifted away from blaming her, some stubborn people

are

still out there. She isn’t safe on her own,” he said in a frustrated tone.

Yuvan nodded and left the office.

When Cedric was alone in the room, his phone buzzed. He answered after glancing at the caller ID.

“Hello.

“Yes, that’s me.

“Alright, I’ll come over immediately.

He hung up the phone, quickly stood up, and hastily walked out.

The call had been from the hospital.

Even though the reports had been taken down, there was still gossip running wild. People all over

Verde City discussed Cedric’s private life and the brutal fight between Isabella and Cedric’s other

unknown

The Johnson family’s wealth and power shielded them from tangible harm, but Rebecca didn’t dare

show her face in high society because she felt too embarrassed.

Natalie was the person everyone wanted to see now. Isabella, the Johnson family, Cedric, and

countless journalists were desperate to find her. However, Natalie seemed to have disappeared into

thin air. For three consecutive days, there had been no contact from her.

Cedric eventually sought out Bianca.

“Where is she?” Cedric’s tone was sharp.

Now that his disagreement with Natalie had reached this point, he had no patience for her friend.

First, it was the divorce. Now, she had disappeared. She had become audacious! When he got

on her, he would teach her a lesson!

Cedric initially thought it would take some effort to pry information from Bianca. Surprisingly, she didn’t

hide anything from him.

“She left the country.”

“What?”

“Seriously. Did you think she would stay in the city, with everything that’s been happening? Did you

think she would sit idly like an idiot and let the entire city tear her apart?”

There was no doubt that Natalie was a smart woman.

A dangerous glint flashed in Cedric’s eyes as he looked at Blanca.

The unfazed woman casually ran her hand through her long hair and sneered. “What did you do when

she received so many threats in Scarlet Villa? When those people were about to tear her apart, were

you waiting for her to beg you? Cedric, she’s your wife! What do you take her for?”

The atmosphere turned icy.

Cedric had never expected that Natalie would leave the country at this time. How great of her! She had

simply left after causing chaos in Verde City! Meanwhile, he was left in the dark, never knowing that his

wife was capable of such a feat.

“Where did she go?”

Cedric showed little patience for Blanca’s words. He just wanted to know where Natalie was hiding

Bianca got up and picked up her coat. As a lawyer, her demeanor and presence were unlike other

women.

Even the most mundane actions exuded an air of dominance. Her response was authoritative and

didn’t

directly answer Cedric’s question.

She even grabbed her unfinished cup of coffee and threw it on Cedric. “That’s for Nat.”

She slammed the cup back onto the table and looked at the stunned man without any sign of fear.

What kind of life had Natalie lived with the Johnson family? Her husband’s heart was elsewhere, her

mother–in–law caused trouble, and her sister–in–law obstructed her! If Bianca hadn’t poured that cup

of coffee on Cedric, she wouldn’t have been able to calm her frustrations for her friend’s situation.

In the end, Cedric didn’t get any information about Natalie’s whereabouts from Bianca. Instead, he

walked

out of the café with a grim expression

The driver was frightened by Cedric’s appearance, but he didn’t dare say a word. The only thought in

his mind was that it wasn’t smart to anger women nowadays. Especially a woman like Natalie.

She was a gentle, knowledgeable, and polite woman to everyone. But during this time, she had turned

their master into someone unrecognizable!

In the back seat, Cedric called Yuvan.

“Go to the airport and retrieve the flight records. Find out where she went!”

He was furious. Clearly, he hadn’t anticipated that Natalle would quietly leave the country. During their

seven years of dating and three years of marriage, she had never traveled out of Verde City alone. Any

trip over fifty kilometers was always done together.

However, this time, she had gone abroad alone!

He had to find Natalie!

In Cedric’s long list of things to do, there was only one thing left: find Natalie. He hadn’t checked the

airport before this because he had been sure she was still in Verde City, but who would have

guessed…?!

Now, whether she was in a foreign country or outer space, he was determined to bring her back.

Yuvan acted swiftly and called Cedric back two hours later,

“Mr. Johnson!”

Even through the airwaves, one could sense the unease on the other end of the line.

Cedric ran his hand through his disheveled hair, looking somewhat haggard.

“Where did she go?” he demanded.

“Someone obstructed our investigation of Madam.”

“What?” Cedric said in disbelief.

“All the records related to Madam at the airport have been erased. The only evidence we have of her

leaving Verde City is from the surveillance footage.

Cedric’s face turned menacing, his eyes taking on a blood–red hue that was terrifying to behold.

Natalie had left. And someone was preventing him from investigating. He couldn’t fathom who she

knew in Verde City with such influence.

“Find that person.”

Cedric’s tone was furious. He was determined to uncover the identity of the person who had meddled

in

Natalie’s affairs.

“Yes, sir,” Yuvan replied.

While the words were spoken with determination, the person who had managed to erase Natalie’s

information had to be someone of significant power and influence. It definitely sounded like someone

whom Cedric would prefer to avoid confronting directly.

Despite his anger, Cedric maintained his basic rationality. He decided to start by investigating the major

families in Verde City.

The search yielded disappointing results.

In a short span, Yuvan reported back. He confirmed that Natalie had no known connections with any of

the major families in Verde City, let alone close acquaintances. Back when Natalie had relocated to

Verde City, she only had one friend – Bianca Sanders. But Bianca lacked the capability to do what had

been done.

Cedric found himself in a perplexing situation. Who had assisted Natalie in this matter?

As a result, this investigation spanned over three months. A lot could happen in that time, and it

brought significant changes to Verde City and even abroad!
