Chapter 26
When She Stops Playing Nice
Chapter 26
Ella put a smile on. âFirst, thanks for helping us out with Phillipâs medicine fees. However, James had a car accident and wants to receive better treatment at Prover Hospital. As you know, itâs tough to get admission there, so Iâd like to ask for your help.
Abbie and Clinton exchanged a look.
âWhat fees?â Abbie looked puzzled. They didnât care about Phillip and werenât concerned.
Ella was also confused. âDidnât you find out Phillip was also hospitalized and helped pay the bills?â
Thatâs impossible. We are wealthy but not crazy Abbie recovered from her shock and clarified, âWe canât help. Neil was admitted through the usual process.â
Ella was shocked. If it wasnât them, who was it?
Abbieâs meaning was clear. They wouldnât help.
Ella could only change the topic. When they spoke about the engagement party, Ella asked, âThe party is coming up. Should we send out the invitations?â
Without Clinton and Abbieâs consent, they couldnât send them out.
Abbie frowned. âWhatâs the rush?â
Seeing this. Ella said. âMrs. Jackson, Olivia recently won first in the national college jewelry design competition.â
âFirst? The results havenât been announced yet, right?â Abbie asked.
âThe news has spread. Itâll be announced the day after tomorrow, Ella added. She wanted Abbie and Clinton to know Olivia was outstanding. If Ethan were engaged to Gina, theyâd probably cancel the engagement,
On account of the present, Abbie spoke politely, âFirst prize. Thatâs good. Any career plans, Olivia?â
Noah answered, âSheâll join Miller Jewels as the design director after graduation. The Wish collection she designed before sold like hotcakes. Sheâs talented.â Noah once more shamelessly credited Olivia again.
Abbieâs expression softened. She had heard about that. âIs that what you think, Olivia?â
Olivia nodded. âIâll work with Noah to make Miller Jewels bigger and better.â

Abbie asked, âDonât you think you should get some experience elsewhere first? If you get comfy just because youâve done something in your familyâs company, isnât it arrogant?
Olivia was awkward. Was Abbie messing with her?
Though annoyed, Ella still smiled. âAny advice for Olivia, Mrs. Jackson?â
âIf you can enter Quaria and make a name for yourself, thatâs be something. Abbie said.
Olivia resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Working for her family was comfortable. Was Abbie trying to make things difficult for her? Olivia smiled. âThanks, Abbie. Iâll remember it.â

âEnough talk. Letâs eat,â Clinton invited.
The Miller family felt quite aggrieved during the meal, but fortunately, Clinton and Abbie agreed to send out the engagement invitations.
After finishing the meal, Olivia went to the restroom. When she came out, she heard a familiar voice. âYes. Hurry up. Take it out of the safe and bring it here,â
Olivia followed the sound and saw Neil. Neil was here but didnât drop by. Olivia felt upset.
Neil turned and saw Olivia. His expression didnât change.
Olivia greeted, âMr. Jackson.â
Neil acknowledged indifferently.
Olivia tried to strike up a conversation. She noticed the pearl ring on Neilâs finger and remarked, âMr. Jackson, your ring is beautiful. Is it from Quariaâs collectorâs series?â
Neil didnât know jewelry. Hearing that, he knew Gina had spent a lot on it. Gina was so thoughtful. She probably spent the entire 14 million dollars he paid her on it. But Gina was a student. She didnât need to buy something so expensive.
âI think itâs good too.â Neil agreed.
âDid you buy it yourself, Mr. Jackson? What a good eye.â Olivia praised, desperately trying to leave a good impression on
him.
âGina bought it for me as a birthday gift, Neil told her.
Oliviaâs heart skipped a beat. âMy sister, Gina?â
Neil nodded. âYesâ
Olivia stiffened. Why was Neil so fond of Gina? While she was still enduring Abbie and Clintonâs sarcastic remarks, Gina hau already won over Neil. Olivia was furious.
Olivia awkwardly said, âI thought the medicine last time was her birthday present to youâ¦Gina didnât study medicine. Sheâs from the countryside and might know some oldâschool remedies. If youâre not feeling well, itâs better to consult a real doctor, Mr. Jackson. My sister means well, but your health comes first. Who knows whatâs in that medicine? It could do more harm than goodâ¦â She let her voice trail off meaningfully.
Olivia had no clue why Cina would turn into Neilâs honored guest.
Neil frowned. He knew what Olivia was implying. He asked coldly, âDo you know medicine?â
Olivia was stunned. âIâI donât.â
Neil barked, âIf you donât, donât speak nonsense. Gina had saved Neil so Neil wouldnât question Ginaâs skills.
With that, Neil left.
Olivia realized her mistake. She wanted to salvage the situation. Clenching her hands, Olivia hurriedly caught up to him. âMr. Jacksonâ¦â
