Chapter 29
When She Stops Playing Nice
Chapter 29
Aria chatted happily with Gina, hoping to become closer friends. âGina, are you participating in next yearâs national computer science competition?â
âNo,â Gina replied. Giria was the judge. It would be unfair.
However, Gina remembered the third place in the jewelry design competition was named Aria Torres. âDid you participate in this yearâs jewelry design competition?â
âYeah, I did.â Aria nodded, smiling shyly. âBut my family checked. I only got third place. I still have to work harder.â Aria Jooked disappointed.
âIs it not up to your expectations?â Gina asked.
Aria shook her head. âIâm happy with it. I hope to join Quaria after graduation. But even firstâplace winners in the design competition could be rejected. Iâm only third, so I have even less hope.â
âDonât be discouraged. Give it a try, Gina consoled. She had seen Ariaâs work and felt Aria had talent.
Aria bit her lip. She felt more confident now. âIâll definitely try.â
Suddenly, a pen was thrown toward Gina. Gina dodged it and looked at the shortâhaired girl who threw it. A curlyâhaired girl was standing beside her.
The curlyâhaired girl was frightened, tugging on the otherâs arm. âLetâs go.â
The shortâhaired girl flung her aside. âIâm not scared of her,â
Ginaâs gaze went cold. She walked to them. âExplain.â
Aria was furious. âWhy did you throw the pen?â
The shortâhaired girl was indignant. âWhy?
Is that wrong!
She bullied her roommate, causing her to be expelled. Iâm teaching her a lesson.
âWhat nonsense is that?â Aria didnât believe it.
âItâs not. You got Lily expelled. You hooked up with the higherâups in school and abused your power. Shameless bitch,â the shortâhaired girl accused.
Gina remembered Jack gave Lily probation, not expulsion. âShe was expelled?â Gina was puzzled.
The shortâhaired girl thought Gina was feigning innocence. âStop pretending. Didnât you get your sugar daddy to do it?â
Ginaâs face turned to ice. âIf you donât shut up, Iâll rip out your tongue.â
Startled, the shortâhaired girl fell silent momentarily.
The curlyâhaired girlâs phone rang. She answered, âWhat?â She hung up quickly and grabbed the shortâhaired girlâs hand. âLily wants to commit suicide.â
The shortâhaired girl was stunned. âWhereâs she?â

The curly haired girl replied, âAt the school library.â
Before leaving, the shortâhaired girl glared at Gina. âIf something happens to Lily, I wonât let you off.â
Gina told Aria. Tâm going to check it out.â
Aria responded, âIâll go with you.â
The library was located at the center of the campus. When Lily appeared on the edge of the roof, a crowd gathered.
Dear God. Donât do anything foolish, someone shouted.
âI heard she was bullied by her roommate and expelled. She was also from a small town. Sheâs desperate now,â another explained.
Who is her roommate? Whoâs so malicious?â somebody asked.
âGina Miller,â another voice said.
Didnât she try to steal her sisterâs fiancé?â someone questioned.
Somebody confirmed, âThatâs her
Another chimed in, âDidnât someone post how promiscuous she is on the campus network? It got deleted within a day, with
apology. No wonder. She had the school leaders on her side.
A voice suggested, âItâs disgusting. Letâs complain to the Department of Education. Itâs a disgrace to have such corrupted student and leaders.
Gina and Aria were greeted with a buzz of criticism.
Aria was furious. These arenât true. You canât spread rumors.â
Everyone looked at Aria and recognized Gina beside her. The crowd turned turbulent.
Someone shouted, âGinaâs here.â
Another added, âApologize to Lily. Sheâs going to jump.â
Gina looked at the neatly laidâout lifeâsaving cushion and noted that the library only had six floors. The highest laboratory building on campus had fifteen floors. Lily chose the shortest one. This was staged. Gina said expressionlessly, âShe should apologize to me.â
Cina had discovered Lily had contacted Mason, instructing him to post false information online. She had only dealt with Mason and was going to deal with Lily.
Gina hadnât considered Masonâs connection to Olivia. She also didnât expect Lily to stage such a scene.
Ginaâs words caused the crowd to erupt into fury.
Listen to her. How coldâblooded, someone criticized.
Another shouted, âWho does she think she is?â

Aria couldnât bear the insults. She looked at Gina concernedly, noticing that she was calm and unaffected. How strong Gina was. Aria felt sorry for Gina. Gina had to have been through much to have developed such resilience.
While the crowd continued to berate Gina, Lily jumped from the top of the building.
The crowd erupti
in screams.
Gina calmly watched as Lily landed safely on the lifeâsaving cushion.
