Chapter 397
When She Stops Playing Nice
Chapter 397
âFine. You callâ Colin had a fake smile.
Dylan calmly called Gina and spoke with an air of formality. âMiss Miller, hereâs the situation. Mr. Barnes has brought his sister for treatment. They seem urgent, but I remember your instructions and did not admit them immediately. However, Mr. Barnes insists on having his sister treated and admitted to our hospital. What is your opinion?*
Colin took a deep breath, suppressing the anger surging in his chest, and listened to what Gina had to say.
âI do not agree for now,â Gina said calmly.
Sitting in her wheelchair, Elaine wanted to curse but held back,
Colin forced a polite tone. âMiss Miller, can we talk directly?â
Gina replied, âSure.â
With Ginaâs consent, Dylan handed the phone to Colin
Colin said, âMiss Miller, you can name your terms. I know you donât need money, and the medical fee is not your
concern.
Gina chuckled lightly. I havenât decided on the terms yet. Mr. Barnes, for now, take your sister home to while. It might teach her to be more cautious and not reckless.â

Elaine flew into a rage, thinking that this bitch actually lectured her. She vowed to remember this humiliation and one day dismember Gina to vent her anger.
âHow long is a while?â Colin asked.
âIt depends on my mood,â Gina replied leisurely.
Colin could no longer bring himself to plead with Gina. He gave a cold smile and said with a warning. âFine. Miss Miller, despite our past grievances, havenât we always settled them mutually? I think this titâforâtat game is quite interesting, but you should know when to stop, right?â
He implied that Gina shouldnât push them too far. If she kept stringing them along, they would get desperate.
âIt is you who doesnât understand when to stop. Iâll decide when the game ends,â Gina responded. âWhether your sisterâs legs can be treated depends entirely on me. The decision to admit her for treatment rests on my mood. Do you understand, Mr. Barnes?â
Colin was furious. He said, âAlright, Iâll wait for your response.â
Elaine couldnât hold back her temper any longer. âGina, if you dare to delay on purpose and make me a cripple. I
swearâ¦.
Colin patted Elaineâs shoulder, signaling her to stop. Elaine felt incredibly aggrieved but was truly afraid that Gina would refuse to admit her, leaving her permanently in a wheelchair.
âLetâs go home, Colin said. Before leaving, he shot a fierce glare at Dylan, who remained unfazed and raised an eyebrow indifferently.
Olivia arrived at Ethanâs place. She had some matters she wanted to discuss with him.
As she entered the living room, she saw Ethan asleep on the sofa.
On the coffee table, there was a bottle of sleeping pills. Olivia was surprised. Ethan used to have excellent sleep.

quality. Why did he need sleeping pills now? Something was off
Ethan was!
She moved closer and noticed that even in his sleep, profusely, his brows furrowed, and he seemed very restless.
Olivia hesitated, wondering if she should wake him up. Suddenly, Ethan began to shout as if he was having a nightmare. âNo, donât haunt me! Youâre unlucky. You brought it on yourself!â
The next moment, Ethanâs eyes flew open, and he almost convulsed off the sofa, startling Olivia.
Olivia asked worriedly, âEthan? Whatâs wrong with you? Are you possessed?â
Hearing Oliviaâs voice startled Ethan even more, causing his heart to race wildly. Seeing Olivia, he cursed, âWhat the hell are you doing here?â
Olivia replied, âTâm here to discuss something with you. About the allâinâone medical examination machine, isnât it already in use? 1 invested one million dollars earlier. I heard you plan to start a medical equipment company, and I want to be a shareholder.â
Ethan, still shaken from his nightmare, wasnât in the mood to listen to Olivia.
Seeing his lack of response, Olivia called out to him, âEthan, whatâs wrong with you? Did you have a nightmare? Havenât you recovered yet?â
âGet lost!â Ethan snapped angrily.
Olivia was speechless and felt infuriated. She was genuinely concerned about Ethan, yet he didnât appreciate it. A grown man scared by a nightmare. She didnât even mock him, but showed concern, only to be yelled at in return. How ungrateful!
Just because you had a nightmare, why take it out on me? I donât owe you anything!â Olivia was about to leave. But thinking about her future stake in Ethanâs medical equipment company, she softened her tone. âYou should cut down on the sleeping pills. They wonât cure nightmares. All medicine has some side effects.â
Ethanâs mind was a mess. Since the car accident last night, no police had come knocking on his door. It indicated that Harry had taken care of it as promised. But Ethan couldnât stop replaying the nightâs events. The blood, the crushed body, and the gore. These thoughts made him afraid to close his eyes at night. After staying awake for an entire day and night, he finally took some sleeping pills.
Knowing that her gentle approach seemed to be working. Olivia decided not to leave hastily. âWhatâs going on with you? Are you under too much pressure from your successful career lately?â
The car accident weighed heavily on Ethanâs mind. He felt the need to talk to someone, to be comforted.
Ethan looked up at Olivia. When they were still together, he would always share his troubles with her, and Olivia would comfort him. Hearing Olivia seem to comfort him now made him feel a bit better. Regardless of everything else, he had to admit that his former fiancée had been very understanding
He wanted to talk to Olivia about the accident. He wasnât afraid she would leak it. She wouldnât dare unless she had a death wish. Using Olivia as an emotional dumpster wasnât a bad idea.
He licked his lips and motioned for Olivia to sit down.
Ethan explained. âItâs not because of work pressure. I⦠I killed someone with
my
car.
Ethan tried to stay calm. He didnât want Olivia to see how scared he was.
Olivia wasnât particularly shocked. She even took a calm sip of water. âI see.â
âI see?â Ethan was stunned. âI said I hit and killed someone with my car,â Ethan repeated, half angry and half amused.

Olivia replied. âI heard you. So? Is that why youâre so distressed, needing sleeping pills**
