Chapter 69
When She Stops Playing Nice
Chapter 69
Ethan became more and more worked up as he spoke. He told Neil everything that Olivia had told him about the ugly things that Gina had done.
When he saw Gina at Neilâs birthday party, he wanted to say it.
But he had promised Olivia that these were all the Miller familyâs skeleton in the closet and should not be aired publicly, so he did not tell his grandfather.
He thought, âAt that time, I thought even if this country bumpkin was scheming, she wouldnât be able to stir up much trouble. Who would have thought that Gina would be so c
u n n i n g, managing to win over my family members one after another.â
Ethan listed Ginaâs wrongdoing in detail. His mouth was dry from talking.
He took a sip of water. Then, he continued, âGrandpa, she must have approached you because of the engagement. Sheâs seducing Uncle Gabriel now because she thinks that thereâs no chance of seducing me. Thereâs no way Iâd marry her.â
Before Ethan finished talking, Neil picked up the walking stick beside the bed and hit Ethan, saying, âYou b a t a r d. What nonsense are you talking about?â
Ethan was dumbfounded. He said, âGrandpa. Grandpa, what are you doing?â
He kept dodging. Neil got off the bed and chased after Ethan to hit him.
âThereâs no need to explain,â Neil said. âI can tell how disrespectful you are to Gina. You are slandering her with baseless accusations? You deserve to be beaten up. Gabriel did a good job!â
Neil panted as he chased after him. He stopped, his chest heaving intensely.
âGrandpa, these are not baseless accusations,â Ethan said, looking aggrieved. âThey are all true. If you donât believe me, you can ask Olivia and members of the Miller family.â
âWhy the f**k should I ask?â Neil said. âIf Gina is as despicable as you claim, committing so many wrongdoings, why didnât the Miller family report her to the police?â
He countered with a question.
Ethan was stunned for a moment. After a long while, he said, âBecause Gina is too c u nn in g, whic h leads to insufficient evidence. So they canât do anything to her. Grandpa, sheâs a scheming woman. By the way, her current target may be the Jackson familyâs assets. Grandpa, you mustnât let Uncle Gabriel get together with her!â
Neil was thoroughly angry. He threw his walking stick at Ethan and said, âSay another word, and Iâll call Gabriel back now to beat you up!
Ethan was scared. âGrandpa, please donât do that,â he said.
âIs it insufficient evidence or is someone deliberately trying to slander Gina?â Neil said. âWith your dumbness, I donât think you can understand!â
Neil had lived for so long and had always been good at judging people. He believed that Gina was definitely not the heinous child they said she was. On the contrary, he could tell that Olivia was very scheming. However, the engagement between Ethan and a member of the Miller family had been agreed upon long ago. If the engagement was broken off, it would affect Oliviaâs reputation. Moreover, Ethan was very fond of Olivia, Neil was old, and Gabriel alone brought him much worry..
He no longer had the energy to deal with the affairs of the younger generation anymore.

Hence, Neil had no intention of breaking off the engagement.
Fortunately, Ethanâs marriage partner isnât switched to Gina, Neil thought. âEthan is not worthy of Gina at allr
Crazy,â Ethan thought. My grandpa and uncle must have gone crazy!â
Ethan was about to break down. He had nowhere to turn for help and ended up getting another beating.
Neil was so angry that he clutched his chest and frowned.
Ethan became nervous. âGrandpa, are you alright?â he asked.
âGet out!â Neil said, feeling annoyed now at the sight of Ethan.
Ethan had long wanted to run off. âGrandpa, rest well,â he said. âDonât be angry. Take care of yourself.â
With that said, Ethan quickly ran off
Neil returned to the edge of his bed and sat there. After relating for a while, he summoned Isaac and had Issac pour him a glass of the medicine Gina had made for him. After drinking it, he felt much better.
Ethan retu rned home with a swollen face.
When A b b i e saw him, she widened her eyes and asked, âWhat happened to you?â
âUncle Gabriel hit me,â Ethan said grumpily.
A b b i e was initially angry, but upon hearing that Gabriel was the one who hit him, she calmed down considerably. She listened as Ethan recounted the details of what had happened.
âYou went to buy Olivia a Hosxen handbag?â A b b ie said, her expression changing. âWhy? Are we suddenly flush with cash?â
Ethanâs heart s k i p p d a beat, thinking, âOh no. Why is Momâs focus on this?â
âNo, Mom,â he said. âThe point is that Uncle Gabriel hit me.â
A b i e scolded Ethan, saying, âLetâs not talk about this first. Why did you spend so much money on Olivia? She hasnât even married into the family, yet you are already so willing to spend money on her. Once she marries into the family, wonât you then wish you could give her the family assets?â She thought, âThis little vixen is too much.
As for the reason she avoided addressing the incident of Gabriel beating her son, it was because she had no choice. Their family relied on Gabrielâs care to live the way they did today.

A b b ieâs eyes darted around, and she said, âWhy donât you change your
Ethan widened his eyes, seriously suspecting that his mother had gone mad as she actually spouted such nonsense.
âMom, the engagement party is the day after tomorrow,â he said. âWhat are you talking about?â
Iâve found you a more suitable partner, A b b ie said.
Ethan was left speechless.
âSheâs your grandfatherâs savior,â A i e said. âSheâs also very beautiful and graceful. One look and you can tell that sheâs a good girl who knows how to manage a household frugallyâ
She also looked very obedient, she thought. âThatâs because I saw that girl wearing simple clothes the other day, unlike

livia, who is always dressed in designer clothes. One glance and I can tell that Olivia is a gold digger.
farry her if you want,â Ethan said.
than did not know whom her grandfatherâs savior was. He simply felt that her mother was outrageous.
bbie was angry.
She said, âYou b a s a r d. What are you talking about? You like that vixen Olivia that much?â
than fell silent. He did not really like her that much. Besides, he also felt that Olivia was not as gentle and pleasant as efore. But changing my fiancée now will just make me a laughingstock, wonât it?â he thought.
dom, stop bothering me,â he said. âLeave me alone!â He retreated into his room.
livia returned to the Miller familyâs home in tears.
loah was at home. When he saw Oliviaâs tear-stained face, his heart ached.
Whatâs wrong?â he said. âWere you mistreated?â
Jpon hearing Noahâs inquiry, Olivia felt even more aggrieved.
she threw herself into Noahâs arms and burst into tears.
Noah was a little stunned. He hugged Olivia tightly and comforted her, saying, âItâs okay. If you have any grievances, tell me.â
Olivia said. âNoah. I ran into Gina at a Hosxen storeâ¦â
Noah did not need to hear Olivia continue talking. He already knew what had happened. That bitc h Gina must have bullied my precious sister again! he thought.
However, this time, Oliviaâs focus was on Ethan, deliberately ignoring Gabrielâs presence.
She did not want members of the Miller family to know that Gina had gotten involved with Gabriel, who was the most influential and outstanding man in the Jackson family.
Thinking of this, Olivia felt both jealousy and resentment.
Noah was furious. âEthan just watched you suffer grievance without doing anything?â he said. âWhatâs his intention?â
