Chapter 155
My Bestfriend Slipped Inside Me (An Alpha’s Secret)
Averyâs pov Thereâs an urgent tone in Xadeonâs voice that made everyone jump into action. Before we know it, Xade has packed up all the bags and is eyeing every corner of the room as if at any moment some kind of monster would pop out.
His protectiveness was adorable but I didnât want to worry this bad.
What about Melissa? I have my clothesâ¦.â I drawled. I have nothing but the dirty clothes I came with here. I am going home in Xadeâs clothes.
â We canât trust anyone, Melissa included. She just needs to know youâre safe and thatâs all. As for your clothes I will buy you new ones,â he promised, walking over to me, cups my face gently as if I were some fragile glass and plants a soft tender kiss on my forehead. â I promise.â
I sighed, closing my eyes to savor the moment of calm that passes between us briefly. It is quick but itâs enough to calm down my nerves a bit. He really was my anchor.
No you donât have to buy me anything new,â I whispered, pulling away from him to stare up into his eyes. âI still have clothes back at Momâs. Iâm sure some stuff will still fit.â
He nod, grinning. â Fine. But I will still have to buy you some when your belly starts to grow.â
I grinned up at him. â Deal.â
A knock sounds at the door. âAre you two dressed?â Xadenâs voice split through the door.
Xade rolled his eyes and replied. â Of course we are.â
The door opens and Xaden peeks in nervously. When his eyes caught sight of us he breathed out a sigh of relief. âI know you two humping bunnies canât get enough of each other, had to be sure.â
Shut it,â Xade grumbles, reaching out for a pillow on the bed and launching it toward Xaden who missed it by a few seconds.
He chuckled.â Need to aim properly little brother. Thought you were good at aiming since you seem to shoot properly down there,â he nudged his chin down to Xadeâs crotch and smirked when I was the one who flushed.
Stop,â I muttered, turning away from him to hide my red embarrassed cheeks.
Okay, fine,â Xaden mocked, raising his hands in surrender. â Just making sure you two are ready. Dad says we need to leave now. Beta Logan has already launched some wolves to surround your home for protection little V. Your mama is safe.â
His words brought on relief and the weight I felt on my shoulders lessen.
Thank you,â I whispered.
Xaden gaze softens. âWe are a family Avery, all of us including your mom. We protect family.â
Xade smiled happily at his brotherâs words and pulled me by his side. And we stick together,â he utters, kissing my head. Then he grabs the duffel bag he had packed and swooped me in his arms without a struggle.
I gasp, wrapping my arms around him. Not that I needed to, Xade was strong. I trusted him with my life.
Xaden rolls his eyes. â You two are really stuck together like glue,â he snorted, turned around and walked out. Xade followed after him with me in his arms.
We both knew that what was going on was severe and I was in massive danger. Yet even though the threat loomed over us, Xade seem to make me feel protected and safe. I never wanted out of his hold and the feeling seem mutual.
Xadeon and Eloise were waiting in the living room when we got there, their things packed and ready. But we couldnât help but notice someone was missing along with the yellow wolfsbane flower that had been on the kitchen countertop.
âWhereâs Kaylee?â Xaden asked tightly, frowning hard.
Xadeon shifted his uneasy gaze to Eloise and then back to Xaden. â She left.â
