Benny, still basking in the warmth of congratulatory toasts and smiles, was jolted by Kendra’s piercing cry.

He quickly set his glass aside and made his way to Kendra.

The other guests also turned their attention to the commotion.

Benny made his way through the onlookers and found Kendra, her face ghostly, clutching her stomach.
