Chapter 165
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Benny, still basking in the warmth of congratulatory toasts and smiles, was jolted by Kendraâs piercing cry.
He quickly set his glass aside and made his way to Kendra.
The other guests also turned their attention to the commotion.
Benny made his way through the onlookers and found Kendra, her face ghostly, clutching her stomach.
He wrapped his arms around her, his expression etched with fear.
âKendra, whatâs happening to you?â
Kendra weakly pointed at Lindsey, who was seated at the other end of the table.
âI just felt so thirsty, and after I drank some water Lindsey gave me, this awful pain in my belly started.
â
As she spoke, Kendra doubled over with another spasm, gripping Bennyâs sleeve, her tears flowing unrestrained, her distress unmistakable.
Shelia, pushing her way through the crowd, pointed accusingly at Lindsey and bellowed, âShe wants to stop my mom from having this baby.
She mustâve spiked the water, trying to end the pregnancy.
â
âLindsey, Iâve overlooked your past insults, but this is a baby, an innocent life, potentially your sibling.
How could you even think to harm it? Youâre so cruel.
â Kendra sobbed.
Instantly, all eyes landed on Lindsey, filled with a mix of shock, scorn, disgust, and fear.
âHow could she stoop so low? Isnât that the same as murder?â
âSheâs probably scared the baby will one day challenge her for the family property.
She couldnât tarnish Kendraâs reputation before, and now sheâs stooping to drugging her?â
âItâs hard to believe someone as pretty and sweet-Looking as Lindsey could harbor such malice.
â
Bennyâs eyes reddened with fury as he fixed his gaze on Lindsey, raising his voice.
âLindsey Stewart, have you lost your mind?â
Lindsey returned a frosty look, her gaze sweeping over the two figures on the ground, choosing to remain silent.
âIf it turns out the baby is gone, Iâm taking you to the police, and youâre no longer a daughter to me.
I refuse to acknowledge a cruel and ungrateful child,â Benny declared, his glare intensifying.
Despite Lindseyâs past anger towards him, Benny had always held her dear as his daughter.
However, today, she had crossed a line with her scandalous act.
If the much-longed-for child was indeed lost, Bennyâs affection for Lindsey would turn to utter disdain.
Shelia, witnessing the scene, couldnât suppress a smirk.
She turned to Jacob and clung to his arm, not missing the chance to defame Lindsey further.
âMr.
Perry, you see? I was right about her.
Lindseyâs not just wicked.
Sheâs malicious.
Sheâs caused trouble for me and my mother before.
Now, sheâs even turned against an unborn child.
Despicable, isnât she?â
Jacob scoffed dismissively, âIâve encountered my share of such women.
