Chapter 169
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
âWho?â
âSelah Potter.
â
Arturoâs good looks stiffened for a moment.
Domenic clapped him on the back, saying, âThe matter you want to know about should have results soon.
â
Shelia escorted Kendra all the way home.
The moment Kendra stepped inside, Benny struck her hard.
She fell to the floor, her hair a tangled veil over her face.
A trickle of red blood stained her pale Lips.
âDad! Why did you hit Mom?â Shelia exclaimed, stunned.
Bennyâs pent-up fury erupted.
He glared at Kendra on the floor and demanded, âOut with it, Kendra! What really happened tonight? Did you conspire with the waiter to spike the drink, trying to lose the baby and pin it on Lindsey?â
âDad, what are you saying? Momâs carrying your baby.
She wouldnât do that!â Shelia argued, reaching to grab Bennyâs arm, only to be shrugged off.
âPerhaps Lindseyâs right.
Maybe that child isnât mine.
Tell me, whatâs going on between you and Chayce? Are you cheating on me?â
Kendra dashed to Benny and clutched at his trousers, tears streaming down her face as she yelled, âBenny, Lindseyâs accusing me of things I didnât do.
How could you take her word over mine? Iâm at a loss about tonightâs events.
It seems like Lindsey orchestrated this mess just to drive a wedge between us.
Sheâs pulled off stunts like this before, you know!â
Benny pushed her back, a frosty look in his eyes.
âArenât you the own who organized the party tonight? Didnât you hire the waiters?
Youâre pointing fingers at Lindsey for everything.
Are you really that innocent?â
Kendra was at a loss for how sheâd lost Bennyâs trust.
But with Shelia marrying into the Perry family soon, giving her a way out, Kendra didnât have to cling to her title as Mrs.
Stewart.
But now, she wasnât ready to let go.
Her gaze landed on the edge of the round table.
With a heavy heart and tears in her eyes, she looked at Benny and cried out, âIf you doubt me this much, I might as well be dead!â
With those words, she lunged toward the table corner, striking her forehead against it.
Suddenly, a red wound was slashed open, pouring out blood.
Benny froze, shocked by her rash action.
Shelia hurried to Kendra, helping her up, and turned to Benny, tears in her eyes, âDad, canât you see momâs at her breaking point, and youâre still accusing her? If you let her die, Lindsey will have won.
She wants to see the end of both mom and me!â
Bennyâs thoughts were a whirlwind of confusion, unable to discern the truth from the lies.
Seeing Benny hesitate, Sheliaâs frustration and worry boiled over.
She screamed at him, âDad, what are you doing? Call an ambulance, now!â
